Part 2 Clementine

Outer presence – feminine dress, natural look, casual worn down braided hair. The casual appearance of this character represents her as being less of a threat. This means that her transformation into a rough, experienced and ruthless character will be more of a shock to the audience.

Clementine

Clementine is the protagonist of our production. She is an 18 year old female, youthful and outgoing.

Part 1 Clementine

Outer presence – Torn, military-like clothing, messy hair, bloody lip and beaten appearance. She will look as though she’s been through a lot of violence.

Inner presence – Angry, heartbroken and upset. Clementine feels empty due because her brother is no longer alive. We will show this using mise en scene, specifically low key lighting which will represent her sadness and despair. Her dialogue in the first half of the sequence will be limited to show that she doesn’t want to speak about what has happened and make her appear less concerned about her own well-being.

Context – Clementine now lives life on the edge. Her brother’s death has led her to become a ruthless and merciless killer, seeking justice for her sibling.

Butch

Butch is Clementine’s older brother, he has a big ego, is confident but has been getting out of his depth with some big time gangsters and is underestimating them.

Outer Presents - Causally dressed, bearded, holds himself comfortably. Jeans, T shirt and jacket.

Inner Presents - He is very confident with everything he says and thinks he’s all that. He looks after his younger sister and is arrogant but likeable. He thinks that while he’s in control he’s invincible. This is shown through his dialogue and, but particularly the walk he walks and sits down. The dialogue shows that he ignores his sisters concerns and due to himself thinking that tricking people out of money in the “drug business” will not have any consequences if he plays his cards right.

Context – Butch is too full of himself and too confident to realise he’s messing with the wrong big time players.

Character Clothing/Hair/Make-Up

Why? Responsibility

Clementine (Part 2) Feminine dress, pump shoes, pearl bracelets.Hair in braids, laid-back and casual look, nothing fancy.Simple make-up, eyeliner and mascara.

To connote her normal and ordinary, but content life, she will need to look like the average young female. This will show her inner presence as her being happy and outgoing. This portrayal of the character will differ from the portrayal after her brother’s death and will surprise the audience.

Charlotte, from home.

Character Clothing/Hair/Make-Up

Why? Responsibility

Clementine (Part 1) Dirty tank top, black trousers, boots, messy hair, bloody lip, cut cheek, bruised.

To connote the ruthless and more masculine nature of the character, we will have Clementine wear more dirty and less positive clothing to represent her change in inner presence. The bruises and bloody lip represent her as now being a merciless killer rather than the ordinary teenage girl she was before.

Charlotte, from home.

Butch What they will wear Why Responsibility

Butch Blue jeans, big dark coat with many pockets, casual trainers.

He needs to be causal because he’s a relatively ordinary 20 year old student. The audience will not suspect just from his outer presence, that he’s a little dodgy. These kind of clothes are also easy to get.

Matthew will bring from home.
