Lab Safety What should you do if an accident occurs?• When any accident occurs, no matter how minor, notify your teacher immediately. Then listen to your teacher’s directions and carry them out quickly.

General Safety Awareness – be aware of your surroundings.Disposal – throw away waste in the proper container.

No flame – keep away flames to prevent accidents.

Corrosive chemical – chemicals may burn through clothing and skin.Electric Shock – avoid the possibility of electric shock

Sharp object – use care when handling sharp materials.

Heating - use a clamp to hold hot objects.

Plastic gloves – Use disposable plastic gloves to protect yourself.

Heat-resistant gloves - Use hand protection when handling hot materials.Breakage – handle breakable materials with care. Don’t touch broken glass.

Lab apron - wear a lab apron to protect your skin and clothing from injury.
