• In 2007–2010, the GDP per capita continuously increased from Rp. 17.4 million (US$ 1,922.0) in 2007, becoming Rp. 21.4 million (US$ 2,245.2) in 2008, Rp. 23.9 million (US$ 2,349.6) in 2009, and Rp. 27.0 million (US$ 3,004.9) in 2010.

• Meanwhile, the value of GNP per capita also continuously increased during the period of 2007-2010, which was Rp. 16.7 million: US$ 1,843.1 (2007) to Rp. 26.3 million: US$ 2,920.1 (2010)

Our Ministry encourages Indonesian researchers in working on those priority seventh research areas by providing:

SINAS research incentives • 2012: around IDR 99 M (USD 10.32 million): consists of 285 proposals, including 9 research consortium. • 2013: around 114 M (USD 15 million)

• Capacity Building (including degree scholarships and training for Indonesian scientists)

• 2002 and 2013, IDR 35 M per year (around USD 3 million) • 2013 – 2018 RISET Pro (a Loan from the World Bank, USD 95 million)

• International Programmes (ie mobility programs is included)

• 2002 and 2013, IDR 5 M or 500.000 USD per year • 2014 – including 9th ASTW, 7 Billion IDR (600, 000 USD)

• Total of National R&D Budget managed by the Ministry

• 2012: 643.492.640.000 (643 Billion USD, around USD 67 million) • 2013: 651.021.988.000 (651 Billion USD Rp around USD 67,9 million)

13-15 December 2011

Indonesia – China conducted the 1st Indonesia – China Science and Technology Week. Both Indonesian and Chinese academicians and researchers, businesses and Governmental officers participated in this event. Moreover, joint seminars in the fields of energy and herbal medicines were also conducted.

The signing of the MoU on the bilateral scientific cooperation between Indonesia and was conducted on n 11 December 2011,.

The MoU covers the proposed cooperation in the field of ICT, Marine and Fisheries, Biotechnology, Health and Medicine, including herbal medicine, Disaster Management, Advanced Material Technology, including nanotechnology

Institute of Aeronautic and Space) and The China

Innovation, Wharton International Hotel, Nanning, PR China.

• This event was also attended by Minister Prof. Dr. Wan Gang, PR

China; Minister Dr. Ko Ko Oo, Myanmar; Minister Phiraphan

Phalusuk, Thailand; Vice Minister, Dr. Le Dinh Tien, Viet Nam;

Minister Prof. Dr. Boviengkham Vongdara, Lao PDR; and the

Secretary of State, Mr. Chea Sieng Hong, Cambodia.

1 August 2013: HE Prof. Dr. Ir. Gusti M. Hatta, MSi, Minister for Research and

Technology and HE Corinne Breuzè, French Ambassador signed the renewal of

Arrangement on the Science and Technology Cooperation in Jakarta,. This MoU

will be the legal framework for supporting the mobility program- so called

‘Program Nusantara’.

21 Agustus 2013: HE Ms. Krista Kiur, Finnish Minister for Education

and Science had a meeting with 14 Finnish delegates, which come from

ICT industries, ie from Angry Birds and Songhi Entertainment, as well as

a high level representative from the University of Helsinki. The Finnish

delegation expressed its interest to establish a joint collaboration with

Indonesia on the common mutual interests.

25 Oktober 2013: Secretary Minister, Mr. Hari Purwanto received HE

Jan Vapaavuori, the Minister for Economic Affairs, Finland.

This working visit was a follow up of the former visits of HE Ms. Krista

Kiur, The Finnish Minister for Education and Science, as well as HE Y.M.

Kai Sauer, the Ambassador of Finland to Indonesia. All visits have the

same objective which is to establish the bilateral science, technology

and innovation in the future. A formal agreement to express both

Countries’ desires should be finalized and signed in the future.

• The meeting also discussed on SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) Program, in which the Ministry of Research and Technology has been appointed as national secretariat for selecting the Indonesia – Japan joint proposals, since 2008.

• Dr. Sadayuki Sakakibara, Chairman of the Board of Toray Industries Inc., Tokyo, Japan conducted a Courtesy visit to HE Minister Prof. Dr. Ir. Gusti M. Hatta, MSi.

• Toray Industries Inc. has been operated in Indonesia since 1972 and now there are 10 generated companies in the area of organic chemical synthesis, polymer chemistry, biotechnology, advanced material, carbon composite, pharmaceutical, medicine, environment, waste water management, as well as nanotechnology.

• Both Toray Industries and the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology expressed their interests to collaborate in the future

• During the meeting it was also discussed Indonesia Sweden Innovation S&T Week, that may be conducted in the future.

• In add to RISTEK delegation, other Indonesian delegation were Dr. Boenjamin Setiawan (CEO PT Kalbe Farma), Dr. Doddy P. Partomihardjo (Chairman ILUNI), and Mr. (Erik Ridwan Santoso (President, PT Sanco Indonesia).

• 10 August 2011 – Dr. Sven – Thore Holm, GM Lundavision delivered the only Key Note Speech in

HAKTEKNAS 2011

• In addition, Dr. Holm also delivered the speech in Balairung UI – during the reception of new UI

students in 2011.

• He is now working as the Consultant, was formerly held the position of President of Innovation Area

in Sweden (1985 – 2008). Such area is working as incubator for young enterpreneurs using the

venture capital. In addition, he also led Syd AB, Innovation company in audio visual in Mamo,

Swedia

• The late Prof. Syamsa Ardisasmita participated in

the “Innovation in Mind” in Universitas Lund,

Sweden, 14-15 September 2011.

• He also met representatives from Vinnova,, Sony-

Province of Skåne. At that time, Sony-Erricson offered a

joint cooperation on the cellular phone.

• The late of Prof. Syamsa Ardisasmita also visited Science

Park in the University of Lund, the Centre for Innovation,

Research and Competence in the Learning Economy

• 14 November 2012 - Round Table Power Talk: ‘Indonesia – Sweden: Unlocking the Trade and Innovation Potential'”. Indonesian

Delegation was chaired by HE Prof. Dr. Ir. Gusti M. Hatta, Msi, while the Swedish Delegation was headed by HE HE Fredrik

Reinfeldt Prime Minister Swedia. Participated in the round table were Indonesian representatives from UKP-4, RISTEK, the

Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN).

• While from the Swedish side, HE Ewa Björling, Minister of Trade, HE Ewa Polano, Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia and

Swedish business societies. Topics discussed in the meeting were future collaborations in the fields of engineering, health,

diagnostic kits for medical sciences, transportation industries, communication and design, publishing, banking ICT, remote

sensing, military equipment, ocean research, food preservation.

• Objective: to deliver comprehensive information on the

opportunities for studying post-graduate (Master and PhD)

in America, not only in the area of STI diplomacy, but also

in the research priority areas of Indonesia (food and

agriculture, energy, health and medicine, ICT,

transportation, advanced material and defense

technology).

• 200 researchers from the National S&T Centre

(PUSPIPTEK) participated in this event. Around 25 US

universities displayed and share the information on how to

study in the USA.

• This event was opened by HE Prof. Dr. Ir. Gusti M. Hatta,

MSi – the Minister for Research and Technology and HE

Scot A Marciel US Ambassador. A Key Note Speech

delivered by Mr. E. William Colglazier, S&T Advisor to the

US Secretary of State at the National Science and

Technology Centre (PUSPIPTEK), Serpong, Tangerang.

paid a Courtesy Call to HE Yukiya Amano, Director

General of IAEA. During the meeting, Minister Gusti

M Hatta appreciated the excellent work between

IAEA and the National Nuclear Energy Agency

(BATAN) for developing the nuclear technology for

safety purposes. Especially in the General

Conference of IAEA on 17-21 September 2012, HE

Minister Gusti M Hatta expressed an appreciation

that Indonesia was selected to display

achievements in the ‘food irradiation technology’

for supporting the food resilience programs, in the

‘IAEA Scientific Forum’.

• In the field of ‘nuclear security’, Minister Gusti M

Hatta also expressed gratitude to IAEA cooperation

with BATAN on the Radiation Portal Monitors (RPM)

installation in Belawan, Indonesia. Moreover, he

also appreciated IAEA support, to BAPETEN (the

Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency). So BAPETEN

was placed on the eight rank in the Asia Pacific of

the Radiation Safety Information Management

System (RASIM).

• HE Minister Gusti M Hatta also expressed

Indonesian readiness in the human resources,

which are related to nuclear technology. Therefore,

he wished that in the future, such qualified people

could be posted in strategic positions in IAEA.

Venkatesh, Director IAEA Laboratory Seisberdorf and her sub-ordinates.

The Indonesian Delegation visited five research laboratories, in the fields of (i) animal

production and health, (ii) food and environmental protection, (ii) insect pest control, (iv) plant

breeding and genetics, as well as (v) soil and water management and crop nutrition.

abstracts were received by the TH-10

2012 organizing committee, which derived

from twenty-four (24) Countries.

Two hundreds and twenty-two (222)

abstracts were presented in plenary

and parallel sessions.

High qualified papers were then

processed and published in the Elsevier

Procedia Social and Behavioral

Sciences (S+BS) – which are recognized

by Scopus index.

Amongst on hundred and twenty (120)

presented papers, forty seven (47)

selected papers were published in S+BS.

Out of these 47 papers, seventeen (17)

papers were written by Indonesian

authors, while eight (8) authors from those

17 papers are from ITB (Bandung Institute

of Technology).
