Alex Slippens BA hons Graphic Design Level 06 OUGD301 Design Practise 3 Channel Seven 2003 ISTD Competition Adapted 01 05 Background This brief is all about television and channel branding. What is interesting is how channel brands and messages have changed since the original brief 9 years. The have had to become more competitive with the shift from analogue to digital television. In 2009, new channel brands were launched to coincide with the introduction of nationwide digital television. In this brief you need to ask how a channel captures its audience and what theme makes its stand out from the 100’s of others? This brief is an old 2003 competition brief which I’m using as a base to build on and have altered. Channel Seven, a new television channel is about to be launched. Channel Seven’s feature programs are be wide and varied, and aim to attract men and women aged 18 - 30. At this stage of development however, the directors do not wish to be too prescriptive but it will include News, Current Affairs, Science and Technology, History, Drama, Cultural Activities, Topical Items, Travel, Films, etc. The Brief Develop a logo/ identity that will effectively communicate the uniqueness, quality and diversity of the Channel Seven product. To build on the identity for Channel Seven you need to produce a 30 second promotional trailer and 2 IDents showing the logo in motion. You also need to conceptualise an App Design where the audience can get program information, a social network feed and be part of the Seven Brand. Target Market Channel Seven is aimed at men and women 17 - 24.

The Brief
Develop a logo/ identity that will effectively communicate the uniqueness, quality and diversity of the Channel Seven product. To build on the identity for Channel Seven you need to produce a 30 second promotional trailer and 2 IDents showing the logo in motion. You also need to conceptualise an App Design where the audience can get program information, a social network feed and be part of the Seven Brand.
0205Beginning with the digital aspect of the channel seven brand. To right are a 3 concept ideas for a proposed smart phone app. With links to Social media and programs with times and information.
This links with the website I am proposing with similar features. Such as sharing with social media and live program information.
On the website and app the user can find programming information on each of the seven categories that Channel Seven broadcasts.
0505As the channel seven concept works on the seven categories of its programming. Each category has is its own poster. With a link to the website. Where there they can find more information about that particual category.
The photo to the right shows the posters in context. I would purpose them to be all together in one line so the onlooker walks past all categories and remembering the brand.
