Rakan Bahasa 2021 Bulan Bahasa (Malay Language Month) was first launched in 1988 by Malay Language Council Singapore as an initiative to encourage the Malay community to embrace the Malay language in their daily lives. Since 2011, Bulan Bahasa has become an annual event. Various activities are conducted during Bulan Bahasa to promote and instill greater love and mastery of the Malay language. As part of Bulan Bahasa, the Rakan Bahasa initiative is organised by Malay Language Council Singapore to encourage students who are passionate about Malay language and culture to spread the love of the language to their peers, friends and families. We would like to congratulate Sufi Md Rafaat of P4 Discipline and Nabila Haiqa Binte Hazimin of P4 Integrity for being officially appointed as Rakan Bahasa 2021. Together with our principal, Mrs Cheng, and their Mother Tongue teacher, Cikgu Sharifah, they both attended the Rakan Bahasa Appointment Ceremony on 9 April 2021 virtually via Zoom. Special mention to Sufi was highlighted in the media because he was selected to lead the entire team of attendees in reciting the Rakan Bahasa Pledge. The Appointment Ceremony was also reported in the media. Please see BeritaMediacorp article here: https://berita.mediacorp.sg/mobilem/singapura/309-pelajar-dilantik-rakan-bahasa-2021/4595232.html Together with Cikgu Sharifah’s facilitation and guidance, we would like to wish Sufi and Nabilah a meaningful journey ahead as Rakan Bahasa. 3. Monitor Your Child/Ward’s vision To assist you in monitoring your child/ward’s vision, Health Promotion Board (HPB) in partnership with the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) has created an eye screening chart that can be used at home for children 8 years and above in Annex A. The chart provides an estimation of your child’s clarity of vision (visual acuity) and can help indicate if your child needs to see an optometrist. A link to search for an optometrist near your home is available in Annex A. You can use this chart to test your child’s vision every 6 months. 4.
