Changes made in my

video

BEFORE

As part of a students idea of improvement I changed exposure of the sad scenes to make them darker so the audience understands the atmosphere I'm trying to portray. It also emphasises that this part of her like is dark and in misery.

When I did my second draft I changed the first and last shot as instead I wasn’t very keen on the idea of her being part of a movie as the main aim of the video was to really show the contrast between her sad and happy.

For my second draft I did the same thing with exposure but for the happy scenes I made them brighter. Again emphasising the fact she is happy at this point in the video.

In the second draft I added a blur effect on the scene where my actress is drinking the alcohol. The reason for my choice of this effect is to emphasise how the actress is feeling at this time. The side effects of drinking alcohol makes someone get headaches and their vision go blurry which is how the audience is perceiving this shot like she perceives most of her life.

I removed the frame effect from the first draft as I decided to abandon the movie theme. Plus having the camcorder effect and frame effect made it very clustered and busy. Instead it now looks more professional like a music video.

I replaced the shot on the first draft as it didn’t really go or link with the scene that I was creating at this point in the song and it didn’t have the same costume as the scenes just before. Therefore link better.

The difference in this scene for the second draft is that I sped up her walking to emphasise the fact she spends all night doing this. The result of this also meant I had to add an extra shot as the speeding up of it meant that their was a gap in my video which I filled with her entering the phone box. I did this because it shows her trying to find shelter and keep warm at night.

With criticism from my feedback videos I replaced the happy scene when the actress is looking at photos of herself when she was younger instead with a home video of when she is baking. The reason i have chosen this idea is because often baking is seen as an innocent and motherly thing to do. The stereotypes behind mothers is seen as nice and caring which is also given off in my actress at this point.

With the feedback from my video about transitioning this shot from black and white to colour was added in my second draft. This shows the transitions she goes through all the time from being happy to sad and vice a versa which is displaying that she is always swapping between her lifes and does it so easily.

In my first draft the scenes fro the French monologue unfortunately got deleted off my memory card. However this benefited me as it gave me the opportunity to do more recording. I listened to my feedback and i liked the idea that someone said i should carry it on from the scene before where she is getting ready in the red dress. Instead though I decided to mix her sad and happy life into this scene to symbolise and reinforce this view to the audience that she is still the same girl.

I wasn't keen on this shot in the first draft of my video so instead I took it out of my second draft and instead added a reverse shot of the actress putting the drugs back on the floor for the ending. This makes my ending a lot more tidy which was another criticism from a student.
