thThe 75 years of momentous journey of Rotary Mysore was celebrated at a gala event in the evening of 5 July at North Avenue Mysore Socials. The club had the honor of having PRIP Kalyan Banerjee as the Chief Guest accompanied by Ann Binota. The guests were welcomed with the local traditional Veeragaase - a vigorous intense dance based on mythology. The Mysore Police Band then entertained with its light but invigorating music. Posters depicting the various facets of Rotary Mysore and its projects were displayed.

The program was creatively inaugurated with balloons let off forming the pattern 75 on the roof. The Chairman of the Platinum Jubilee Committee, PDG M. Lakshminarayan literally took the audience through Rotary Mysore's 75-year journey. He also paid tributes to all those who contributed to Rotary Mysore, with a special mention of the Late District Governors from the club - Farrokh Irani and Dr. P.R. Sitaram. It was followed by a colorful presentation of the highlights of the years gone by.

With PP Rajaram introducing him to the audience, DG Joseph Mathew installed the officers of the club for 2019-20 with Rtn. Chetan Vishwanath taking over as President from Rtn. G.S. Sumeeth. DG Jose Mathew appealed to the Rotarians to support his worthy district projects Jeevan Sandhya and Gift a Life. IPDG Rohinath, who was welcomed by PP Manohara, inducted 4 new members - K.C. Ponnanna, K.N. Suhas, Arun M.R. and Joseph Fransis into Rotary Mysore. In his address, he recalled that he was part of our Platinum Jubilee inaugurations last year. Paul Harris Fellow certificates were issued to two of Rtn. Raian Irani's family, Ann Swarna Chittaranjan, and Dr. Shyam Prasad Shetty. Contributions towards PHFs were also announced on the occasion.

While Rtn. Sumeeth highlighted the activities of the past year where he achieved much inspite of personal challenges, Rtn. Chetan Vishwanath embraced the new year with open arms and with a donation (along with - friends) of Rs 1 lakh routed through Rotary Mysore towards Palliative Care. The special two-in-one issue of Chamundi created by Rtn. Arun B.R. was released by Asst. Governor S. Raghavendra.

PRIP Kalyan Banerjee and Ann Binota were honored by the galaxy of PDGs and PPs present. Past District Governors from the club - R. Vasudevamurthy (senior-most Rotarian of the district) and Ann Saraswathi, R. Guru and Ann Sulochana, M. Lakshminarayan and Ann Sunitha (along with S. Gururaj in absentia) were honored. DG Joseph Mathew and Ann Annie Joseph, IPDG Rohinath and AG S. Raghavendra were felicitated on the occasion. A special citation was delivered to PDG R. Guru for his total involvement and contribution to the club. Rotary Mysore showed its gratitude to its parent club Rotary Club of Bangalore with the presentation of a plaque to PDG R. Ramdas who represented the club.

After Rtn. Raian Irani colorfully introduced him to the gathering bringing out little known facts, PRIP Kalyan Banerjee thanked Rotary Mysore for inviting him as the Chief Guest for the celebrations. He appreciated the service the club has been rendering to the community. He made a special mention of the integrated approach of the Rotary Mysore school where children with Autism are provided special education leading to integration with the regular children of the school in mainstream education. He found this worthy of emulation by other clubs. On the Artificial Limbs fitments to 40 beneficiaries in the morning, he said that it was truly humbling to see them walk without support. He concluded with a wish to visit us for Rotary Mysore's centenary celebrations.

A number of dignitaries and Rotarians from other clubs graced the occasion. The event closed with fellowship and dinner to the accompaniment of piano music. In his vote of thanks, President-elect Rtn. Manjesh Kumar thanked one and all for contributing to the event, so much so that our guest PDGs waxed eloquent on its grand success.

Rotary Mysore thanks the following: PDG M Lakshminarayan for leading his entire team and planning everything to perfection, PDG R. Guru for the guidance and direction, PP Manohara for the aesthetic infrastructure arrangements and wonderful ambience of the event, PP Sanjay for co-ordinating, executing and scheduling the events, PP S K Dinesh for the mouth watering food and arrangements, PP R Vasudev Bhat for all the creative and timely artifacts for the event, PP Ebby Eapen for his wonderful support, PP Rajaram for keeping the spirits high and smooth-flowing, Rtn.
