Ludington radio station WMOM was named a 2016 merit recipient of the Community Involvement Broadcast
Excellence Award. The award was presented the evening of March 8th at the annual Michigan Association of
Broadcasters Great Lakes Radio Conference in Lansing.
Morning Show Co-hosts A.J. Guertin and Kendra Carr accepted the award on behalf of the station. The award
was received for the station’s involvement in local outreach for community events in 2016. WMOM was integral in
serving the community through the Lake Jump in April, fund Raising for the Mason County Historical Society and other nonprofits. Those included the Muddy Fox Trot at WSCC
and the Annual Shop with A Cop Pie Auction that benefits underprivileged children in Mason County. “It’s such a great honor to be recognized as servants in our community” said
Kendra Carr. “Both of us grew up in Mason County. It’s been rewarding to work and give back to the community that
supported us throughout our childhoods”.
“The community supports us and we support the community”, said A.J. Guertin. “We’re excited to bring this
award home with us to the lake shore. This recognition shows the entire State of Michigan how great it is to be a
resident of this area”.
They both chimed in “We love Ludington and the Lakeshore.
