Message from the PresidentHello members of the Chamber of Commerce.

First, I would like to tell you that the Chamber continues to provide all the services, benefits andevents that we offered in previous years as well as implementing several new initiatives this year.

July started with your Chamber organizing the July 1 “Parade into Summer” Canada Day Paradewhich kicked off an amazing Canada Day at Broadmoor Lake Park. Over 82 entries participated inthe parade with many members braved the elements and volunteered to ensure the event was safeand successful. Thank you all who helped with this great community event.

The Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce and the Alberta Chamber of Commerce playeda very significant role at the 2012 Canadian Chamber AGM where Alberta had 103 votes for the policy session in Hamilton,Ontario. Alberta had the largest delegation and number of votes, Ontario was second with 66 votes and the total votes forthe country was 287. This shift of representation to Western Canada gives us a noteworthy voice on the national stageand will ensure good policies from western Canada will be passed at the national level allowing the Canadian Chamberto lobby the federal government on our behalf.

On October 26th, the chamber board met with Sherwood Park and Strathcona County’s MLA’s Cathy Olesen and DaveQuest to discuss priorities for the Provincial Budget 2013.

We hosted the Business Awards on Friday, October 19th and it was a huge success. We as the Chamber of Commerceare very proud and honoured to be able to celebrate the success of business in this great community. The 52 nomineeswere all winners and I know it was a challenge for the judges to narrow the nominees to 27 finalists and then select thenine recipients. Congratulations to Pam Oliver at Body & Soul Day Spa for receiving the 2012 Business of the YearAward.

Currently we are busy working on the Trade Fair and Christmas Cash promotion.All though we are never to busy to hear from you, our membership. Pleasecontact me, anyone on the Board, or Todd Banks our Executive Director to let usknow how we are doing and how we may help you.
