Originally established in the spring of 2009 by Sue Winchell, the home business then had a lakeside view in Lake Wylie, SC.

long enjoyed vacationing.
Dedicated to excellence in embroidery, Lakeside Embroidery gives your items a personal touch. We can help you find the

The Savannah Inn is a 22 room oceanfront motel in Carolina Beach. We are ideally located across the street from the Marina, and two blocks down the road
from the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. We are walking distance to all of the shops,
restaurants, and nightlife in the downtown area. Our southern-style Inn is also
situated directly on the beach, and has a private walkway right to the sand.
The Savannah Inn features 22 individually appointed beach-themed rooms. All 22
of the rooms are unique in their décor, no two rooms are alike. More than half of the rooms have full kitchens, complete
with fridge, stove, and microwave. All rooms are centrally located around the Inn’s outdoor pool and many have private
balconies that look out towards the ocean. We have plenty of outdoor seating to sit and relax and enjoy the beach.
We are a very family-friendly Inn and love to see our guests enjoying the sun and surf and all that a beach vacation has to
offer. The Inn has a very relaxed atmosphere to it, and feels more like a home away from home. And we have retained
that true southern charm that makes our guests continue to return year after year.
Feel free to call (910.458.6555) or stop by anytime, we would be happy to have you stay with us
The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce presented a check to Cape Fear Community College for the Michael McGowan Endowed Scholarship Fund on Tuesday, June 4 at 12:00 pm at Michael's Seafood in Carolina Beach. Michael McGowan was a well-loved chef in the area who recently lost his battle with Cystic Fi-brosis. The Michael McGowan Scholarship was established by Michael's wife, Shelly. The scholarship will be available to students in CFCC's culinary program.
To date, more than 70% of the funds needed have been raised to establish an en-dowed scholarship by September 2013. The ultimate goal is to raise at least $20,000 for the endowed scholarship, so that funds will continue to be available to students who share McGowan's passion for cooking. The Cape Fear Community College Foundation exists solely to support the students, faculty, academic programs and mission of Cape Fear Community College. The CFCC Foundation secures and manages gifts and grants, including cash contributions, planned or estate gifts, securities, donated services, and equipment and supplies for educational purposes. For more information about CFCC, the CFCC Foundation or establishing scholarships, please contact the Cape Fear
Community College Foundation at 910.362.7207.
These businesses realized the importance of economic growth for Pleasure Island, and have pledged their support by investing in your
Chamber of Commerce. Please support your community by calling on these businesses when you are in need of products and services.

Message From The Chair Well, I guess it would be safe to say that “the Season” has arrived! We are coming
off of the heels of two huge weekends here on Pleasure Island and we are ready for
Summer!
Memorial Day weekend was absolutely amazing this year. The Island was packed
with visitors and local businesses reported record sales throughout the weekend.
With that said, I would like to thank all of our local business owners that provide a
great service to locals and visitors alike. It is nice to have such a great business community that offer a wide range of products and services to Pleasure Island. I
happen to believe that is a major component in attracting thousands to our area.
The 28th Annual Carolina Beach Music Festival drew thousands down to the beach
for a day of fun in the sun! The weather was perfect and three of the region’s top
bands had those in attendance dancing throughout the day. If you missed it, be sure
to get your tickets for next year and join the largest party on the beach!
The fireworks and music series on the Boardwalk is in full swing and are only going to heat up as the Summer continues. The folks with CBDI do an outstanding job providing quality entertainment and fun for the whole family
each night at the Boardwalk. Add some fireworks on Thursday nights provided by the Chamber and you end up
with an action packed week. Be sure to check out the weekly lineup of entertainment and make plans for you and
your family to join the fun!
The free Sunday night movies have begun at the lake. If the recent crowds are any indication of what to expect this
Summer, then I suggest arriving early to get a spot. This Sunday night tradition has really caught on!
In closing, the above mentioned events would not be made possible each year without the hard work and dedication
of hundreds of volunteers. At times these are the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to insure that these events run
smooth and people leave with a positive experience of Pleasure Island!
For more information on these and other events visit www.pleaureislandnc.org.
