The Mission of Bátor Tábor Foundation

Organising free of charge therapeutic recreational camps for children livingwith serious illnesses (oncology, diabetes, JRA, haemophilia)
Our aim is to become a therapeutic recreation centre for Central European children treated with cancer

1988 – Paul Newman funded the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp (CT, USA)
2001 – first camp sessions for 70 children with cancer
2003 – first Family Session
2002 – 2006 The years of expansion: continuously growingnumber of campers served
2007 – Building permanent campsite

• 10 years – around 2000 volunteers• Unique in the Hole in the Wall Camps• The volunteers’ inspiration makes the camp such a specific place• Ratio of children : volunteers = 1:1
Due to the volunteer recruitment we receive about 900 applications every yearWe interview all of them and select 400 volunteers for the summer(including at least 40 interpreters and 25 chaperones)
