A world without water• This means that all the sources of water will have dried up.

• This is because the world’s water resources are drying up at a very high rate. For example the water levels in Lake Victoria, Kenya’s biggest lake has been reducing over the years.

CIVIC EDUCATION ON HOW TO SAVEWATER RESOURCES

The main idea behind avoiding the depletion of water is through teaching the public how to conserve water. This will ensure that the world will not run out of water. It is a way of preventing water depletion.

The Plan• The plan is to hold several campaigns and talks to educate people (civic

education) on how they can conserve and save water e.g. building gutters and having tanks to collect rain water instead of letting it go to waste and also on the dangers of not conserving. The campaigns and talks can be held through the media, seminars and conferences and also community based talks (grass root levels/areas) so as to create awareness.

• These campaigns and talks will inform people of the risks of water wastage, misuse and pollution.

EFFECTIVENESS

• The solution can prevent the following from happening.This solution is relevant

and effective because it will equip people with the right knowledge on how to save water resources and also conserve water so as to reduce water depletion cases. Most of the water shortage problems are caused by individuals. For anything to change or become better it has to start with an individual and so this civic education can prevent future disaster.

INNOVATIVENESSThis idea is innovative because in Kenya, there is very little done on educating people on how to save water resources. Most organizations have invested in building boreholes but not really educating the public. There have been some campaigns in Kenya(though not frequent) on saving water resources. The campaigns are mostly done by encouraging people to participate in various activities so as to raise funds to save the water resources. My idea of campaigning is to educate and not to raise funds as what most of the organizations in Kenya have done.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND GOALS

This solution seeks to-:•Create Public awareness of how to save water resources.•Create awareness of the dangers of pollution, wastage of water and misuse of water resources.This solution also seeks to target the reduction of pollution and depletion of water.

EXPECTATIONS•People will be more aware, enlightened and have the knowledge of how to conserve water resources .•Through this solution, the world will not run out of water•This solution will also ensure that draught cases will be reduced because more water will be harvested and the water levels in the water sources will not reduce. This idea will work because change starts with an individual. When people are educated about water conservation techniques, they will desire to change their ways e.g. if they used to pollute water resources, they will not do it any more. Most of the water shortage problems are caused by individuals through, wastage e.g. leaving running water without attending to it, deforestation, pollution and among others and education of the dangers of these will change peoples attitudes and behavior.

If something is not done to create awareness on the

importance of conserving water resources, we will be facing the disaster of a lifetime and who

knows maybe one day when we open our taps sand will be

coming out instead of water. There is nothing that cannot be

prevented or avoided and everyone has an equal role to

play in making the world a better place. We should heal our land from water shortage by saving

water resources.
