Review by: Reggie Escusa Condor Outdoor offers up a great quality, inexpensive solution to your tactical glove needs. We recentlyreceived the HK221 Tactical Glove Nomex, and HK220 Tactical Glove Kevlar with removable knuckle inserts from our friends at Air Armory for our field review. We were really excited to see these released, as protection for hands becomes more and more popular with players. Given the already proven quality of the Condor gear line, we were not surprised to see solid manufacturing with this current offering.

HK221 modelshown here

All in all it is an excellent purchase for any airsofter and I would recommend it to anyone if they do not have a pair of gloves that they use already. The solid manufacturing and attention to detail should catch your eye if you ever get a chanceto see them up close.

Much thanks to Airarmory.comfor supplying us the samplesfor this review.

Field tests at one of our events showed that both gloves performed nicely when moving, shooting or going abouttasks involving knotting rope or grabbing items from our gear. The only issues that I can foresee is that they are quite warm, great for fall and winter play, but may be

At first glance we were impressedby the quality of stitching and materials used. With parts made of DuPont ® kevlar and premium goatskin leather; double stiched on the palm and knuckleareas ensures that it will take much abuse from its wearers. Both versions come in black, tan and sage green, with a varied spectrum of hand sizes from SM to XL. They not only cover the larger knuckles with an abs plastic cover, but smaller sewn in inserts for the smaller finger knuckles adds a nice touch for more protection. With a velcro wrist strap, it ensures a snug fit around your hand. NOTONESHOW is more anticipated than the National Shootng Sports Foundation’s SHOT SHOW. Thousands of dealers ranging from real steel firearms, hunting equip-ment, tactical gear, to woodworking and display casings converged in Las Vegas on January 18th - 21st 2010 displaying prototypes and soon to be released items for the tens of thousands onlookers, and retailers. This is a highly anticipated show for Airsoft as many companies such as, ECHO1USA, CLASSIC ARMY, MAGPUL-PTS, KWA, ICS, REAL SWORD, and G&G ARMAMENT/101 TECH show the rest of the world what is the latest and greatest innovations soon to be released in the U.S.A. Upon arrival, it took me one full day to get through only one section of exibits since the eye candy of airsoft rifles and accessories was over-whelming. Navigating through the masses was

semi difficult since all the airsoft companies were not clustered together as I had originally thought. And I know I may have missed some products, but I believe I had gotten to most of the popular brands. Alot of time was spent on trying to get good photos, since I am not a professional photog-rapher I lack the necessary skills and equipment to get really nice set shots. It was most frustrating with the different types of lighting from ballroom to plain overhead garage type lighting where hundreds of test shots were taken just to get the clearest picture. Since this was my first time in Las Vegas, I was sadly dissapointed when the weather didn’t cooperate and it rained every day that I was there, causing major flooding on the Las Vegas Strip. But I was content filling my days looking at the

take notice of the ever growing airsoft market. The thing that I regret is leaving in the morning on the last day of the show effectively missing some manufacturers. Alas, it is a lesson learned, as next year will be full of more products, more people, and hopefully, an “I KNOW VINCE” patch from Buck, a friend of ESS. - RJ Escusa - Publications Director

products and organizing the mass amount of infor-mation gathered. The most enjoyable part is meeting the people you interact with on the phone, and now meeting them in person makes the relationships seem more solid than just a faceless voice. Many of the new media relationships forged will only bring this little endevour to a higher level as we bring the newest information to you, our readers, and have a positive effect on new and old airsoft-ers alike. Needless to say there will be alot of new items coming out from all the popular manufactur-ers as new an innovative designs keep the airsoft market fresh and growing. Speaking of growing, it is encouraging to see companies such as BLACK-HAWK, ESS, SPECOPSGEAR, REVISION EYE-WEAR, and other major real steel gear companies

ECHO1USA’s RED STAR - LMG

JAG PRECISION displayed new prod-ucts from Echo1USA, Madbull Airsoft, King Arms Airsoft, SOCOM Gear, and MODIFY. Echo1U-SA’s announcement of their new RED STAR series weapons both in the RPK and AK versions were some of the stars in JAG Precisions booth. Both are a solid quality using steel bodies and real wood furniture. Each version toting a 7mm bushing reinforced version 3 gearbox, poly carb piston, ported piston head, and high torque mo-tor gives these COMBLOC weapons close to 400 fps and 13 BPS. Each model will be released this summer. On display was the highly anticipated Echo1USA PLATINUM edition, and let me tell you, I was really eager to see this rifle in person. As I opened up the plastic case I beheld the Echo1USA and VFC collaboration, I could see all the hard work setting this rifle above the rest. Now I won’t get into too much detail as I am

looking forward to reviewing this product indepth, but a few highlights were the poly carb clear hopup unit and the high quality materials finished look of the rifle. Also on display was the Echo1USA ASC HEAVY full metal with a 7mm bushing reinforced ver-sion 2 gearbox, polycarb piston, ported poly carb piston head, and a 6.06mm barrel. Reps from JAG Precision has said that this ASC Heavy shoots 390 + stock and 14 bps. Although there isn’t a solid release date, it will be something to look forward to in the up coming months. The other items I did not see was the Echo1 ER-16 and

the Echo1 ASR. But the evercrowd pleaseing minigun was on display and sadly, there wasno test firing allowed. It looks to be a strong year of offerings from Echo1USA and I’m eagerly awaiting to see all of it! New from MODIFY was the high-speed gear set. Previously improved from theinitial high speed gear set, this new version uses their patent pending fixed busing stainless steel frameset, that needs no shimming, and new is the sector gear which has teeth on each half of the circum-ference to pull the piston twice in one revolution. The JAG Precision rep also mentioned that Modify has made several versions to fit the dif-ferent type of gearboxes on the market. Using this new high speed gear set will require some modification to your gearbox pieces especially the tappet plate and the piston itself. Modify does have a full replacement package if you cannot modify the gearbox items yourself. I would really like to test this item out and run it through its paces so hopefully either Modify or Jag Precision can send me a set. The other new invention from modify was the “TREMORS” M4 recoil action system. This system fits into your stock tube using a weight slide system to simulate recoil. It looks like a viable option for those looking to increase the realistic factor of their AEG without purchas-ing an Electronic Blow Back *(EBB) rifle sepa-rately. Again, more testing needs to be done and a full review must be made! There is no info as of yet on the TREMORS and High Speed Gear-set but we will announce it as soon as we know! section was a selection of new metal bodies and airsoft accessories but most notably was the new lithium polymer batteries in the 9.6v to 12.8v using a different lithium gel that gives 40c worth of flow! Talk about an instant rate of fire increase and best yet, it’s available now! Last but not the least was the new additions to the SOCOM GEAR line of pistols and rifles. The color on the NOVAK and DESERT COMBAT M9 is a nice deep brown for any coyote brown geardos out there. Each outfitted with a nicely textured grip, should be a solid choice for any airsofter. Along with the new pistols, SOCOM GEAR had their CHEYTAC M200 gas rifle prototype on display. The Novak and Desert Combat pis-tols are available now, but the m200 probably won’t be hitting the retail shelves any time soon. It’s good to see that all the companies that JAG Precision represents are pushing the envelope in invention and ingenuity. What I would have liked to see more of is a sec-tion for King Arms but there is only so much space to go around. Thanks to those at JAG PRECISION mainly Hendrix and Brian for taking the time to tour me around their booth!

Classic Army had a strong showing at Shot Show 2010 highlighting many new items for release this year. But the news here from SPARTAN IMPORTS was what Clas-sic Army is doing with all their airsoft rifles. According to Peter Ho of Spartan Imports, all x-series or Classic Army’s “Proline” airsoft electric guns are receiving 7mm steel bushing gearboxes, and lighter stronger outer bodies. And in turn, the SPORTLINE series of Classic Army will receive metal bodies. Giving the veteran airsofter a stronger gearbox, also bringing better value to their SPORTLINE series. Classic Army also improved their crane stocks as each crane stock will have a removable butt stock cover that reveals the inner tubes that fit sub “C” sized crane stock

batteries. Wiring was also improved as it is now a longer curled wire that has a specific wire groove in the rear of the crane stock body. Also added to their sportline series was the translucent abs body for our northern neightbors in Canada and also for here in the U.S.A. where “replicas” or “toy-rifles” laws need the rifle body to be see thru. Next in line was the ABS - Auto Blow Back series headed up by the fully licensed LWRC series rifles. In addition to the standard M6A2 length LWRC, Classic Army is releasing the CQB length LWRC PSD. The PSD will come with a, lipo-ready, 8mm metal bearing gearbox withblowback system. The gearbox also comes

with a super torque up gearsets, aluminum piston head with bearing, and all the new LWRC ABS models will come with a newly designed hopup, which utilizes the adjustment ring in the rear of the hopup body. Outside fur-niture includes a MAGPUL CTR stock MOE grip, with a CNC free float rail system, and metal flip up front and rear sites. The outer body will be fully trademarked with unique se-rial numbers and UID Matric on the upper and lower receivers. Along with the ABS system, on dis-play was the new Spartan Arms Combat Pro .45 gas blowback pistol. The Combat Pro .45 will feature a metal hopup system, and metal slide and frame. Right behind the Combat Pro was the Dragonov SVD sniper rifle, with

a metal body and faux wood fiber stock and handguard. The SVD also comes with a 4x scope and mount, 7mm bearing gearbox, and 40 round magazine. Additionally in Classic Army’s lineup was the MK46 SPW - Special Purpose weap-on. The SPD will have a metal feed cover with rail, upper and lower railed hand guard, 8mm bearing gearbox, and a M15 crane stock. For all the LMG/SAW gunners this will be a great choice! Furthermore down on the wall was the SLR105 Tactical, with a tactical pistol grip, railed upper and lower handguard, M15 spe-cial forces crane stock, 7mm metal bearing gearbox, and real Arsenal logo with a unique serial number. Finally, on the horizon for Classic

army was the prototype Gas In Mag M4. The GIM M4 was an nice weight and fully function-al as a prototype. We look forward to that re-lease to see what type of gas engine Classic Army has created. Even with all that for the future, Spartan Imports displayed the Classic Army Gas Minigun, and sorry, this item is not really in production although you can see the video on the Spartan Imports website, www.spartanimports.com. Many thanks goes out to Emory Sung, Sean St.Cin and the other Spartan Imports staff for the tour and information!

Modled from the Tornado the Impact gre-nade uses the same bb loading and disper-sal system. The brilliance is in the inside. As Carlton described, what he called “the shuttle” and “the stack”. The shuttle which is a nylon material with o-ring’ed disks on the top and the bottom press against the 4 steel machined parts which is “the stack”. I won’t get into too much of the technical details such as equal pressure and how the stack operates, but once you pull the top pin activating “the stack” and throw the grenade, the force of the impact in any direction makes “the stack” unstable releas-ing the shuttle, and expelling all the bb’s from the grenade. Resetting the TORNADO IMPACT GRENADE is quite simple as the whole top cap unscrews to reveal the stack. Players will stick the activating pin through the top cap, thread the stack in the correct order and voila! the grenade is ready to go. I had also asked him on the progress of the “bouncing betty” and the m203 design and

Carlton said that the m203 is already on the design table and the bouncing betty, when released, will be an add on to the Tornado timed grenade. There is no release date on the m203 version as there are several design issues that need to be worked out. The TOR-NADO IMPACT GRENADE is available in red and black colors and its release date is late February. Thanks to Carlton Chong who gave me a full breakdown of the grenade!

Spartan imports, now carrying a variety of airsoft lines, also started distributing for ARES Air-soft. ARES, most popular now for the TAR-21 rifle is coming out strong this 2010 season with a g36 line with fully trademarked bodies from UMAREX. Not only will players see the trades but internally they will get an electronic blowback engine gearbox with an easy spring power upgrade system. The upgrade system allows the player to use one screw to reveal the spring guide and spring to replace when necessary. Also players will like the functional bolt lock and release, easy disassembly, which only takes 3 pins to disassemble the rifle into it’s major parts, and realistic gas block and piston. ARES will release the G36, G36k, and G36C line late February Additionally displayed was the PPSH which also comes with an electric blowback gearbox, and easy upgrade system, totes a high torque motor, high torque gearset, wood stock and steel stamped body that is set to release also late February. Finally ARES had displayed their Light Machine Gun (LMG) which has a newly designed metal easy upgrade gearbox, high torque motor and gearset, new bb feeding system, and full metal recievers. To round out their offerings, the CM200 gas blow back sniper rifle series was on the wall with the adjust-able cheek and butt stock. It also has an easy change gas system which allows you to change between GAS/SPRING/CO2/ and Paintball. Many thanks to the rep from ARES for all the information.

Nothing quite caused a stir in the airsoft world other than these three letters.. F.P.G. The Folding Pocket Gun, or more affectionately called the “glock in a box” was unveiled at both the MAGPUL PTS and SPARTAN IMPORTS booths this year at shot show. The F.P.G. utilizes a push button design to expand the box exposing the stock, front grip, pistol grip, and magazine. To enable the F.P.G. push the release button, lock the pistol grip into place and you are good to go.The top rail handle is detachable and you can purchase an optional light/laser combo. Internally the F.P.G. utilizes a KSC glock 18c slide, but the final version may use a KWA glock 18c slide. It also can use both the 50 round or 25 round magazines. Collapsing the gun is really simple, as it takes only a few seconds to disengage the pistol grip and fold the stock to create the box. The MSRP is in the 200.00+ USD range and it will not include the g18c slide. The release date is set for the spring, right in time for optimal usage of Green Gas/Propane, gas blow backs. Other accessories shown were the AFG1 and AFG2. The Angled Fore Grip tries to use natural body mechanics to provide comfortable and stable weapon control. Additionally, the new Beta Project AK mags were displayed along with the B.A.D. lever for all the A.E.G’s that have realistic bolt catches like the Sys-tema, and gas blow back rifles. The B.A.D. or Battery Assist Device is to aid manipulation of the bolt stop from the right hand trigger finger. Finally on the acces-sories front, the “L-Plate” which is a replacement for the floorplate of 5.56 mag that works as a bumper pad. On the AEG front, MAGPUL PTS will be re-leasing the fully licensed version of the MASADA Adap-tive Combat Rifle *(ACR) both in M4 and AK magazine versions. These highly anticipated versions will be released also in the summer as they are going through final production runs. Thanks to David Teng the MAGPUL-PTS rep who showed us the new product line! Not a new name to the airsoft scene but a new location PANTAC - USA brought it’s full linup of gear on display here at Shot Show. Being one of the most popular airsoft gear brands, PANTAC USA brings quality and a solid reputation behind it. PANTAC USA is the sole distributer of PANTAC gear here in the U.S. It backs its product with a limited lifetime warranty, so if the item is defective from the factory they will repair or replace it. Just having PANTAC USA distributed in the USA means better support for dealers and end users. Also from PANTAC USA is the ability to do custom gear in smaller quantities. It may cost a bit more since it’s custom, but they can manufacture it. All PANTAC USA items will come with a highly recognizable label, 1000DCordura, YKK zippers, ITW Nexus and UTX buckles and mil-spec velcro. Also what is most noticable about their gear is the coyote

brown colored fabrics they use. It is a nice deep brown unlike some khaki looking browns you see on the market today. They also use genuine multicam fabrics for all their multicam products. One of the new pieces that caught my eye was the Hydration Backpack which comes with the bladder. Other items such as their RRV, and foldable/expandable “everything” bag makes this a solid choice for any airsofter at any level of play. We look forward to getting some items in for review for our readers. Please keep an eye out for more availabitily from numerous retailers as PANTAC USA increases its distribution. Not having to wait for overseas shipping and deal-ing with out of stock products will surely make a lot of airsofters happy. The reps are almost ready for full distribution so keep an eye out for late March or April to have PANTAC-USA hitting the retail shelves.

I honestly have to say that I almost missed going to the REAL SWORD booth due to time constraints. But on the final day that I was there at Shot Show, I made my final stop at the Real Sword booth. I have seen and shot the already popular RS SVD and was amazed at the quality of craftmanship that Real Sword produces out of their factories. Being surrounded by their full line of AEG’s and looking at the processes involved only solidifies that opinion. Real Sword is finalizing their TYPE97 series with both the RS97 SMG and th TYPE97 Sniper rifle. The RS97 SMG is made up of a high strength polymer receiver top, lower handguard and stock. The sights, outerbarrel, bipod, and magazine are steel with a hard coat anodized finish. The grip has a detachable grip plate, where you can fit a stick or brick type lipo battery. The internals include the patented RS T1 reinforced gearbox with 7mm bushings, steel casted gearset, and a high torque motor.

Out of the box the representatives say it will shoot 380 with .20g bb’s. The TYPE97 SNIPER, however, has a CNC processed steel lower receiver, high strength polymer receiver top, steel sights, outer barrel, bipod, gas block, and scope rails. Pulling back the charging handle to open up the ejection port reveals the hop-up. Internally, it will come with the patented RS T4 reubfirced gearbox, which is lipo ready. Additionally, Real Sword will be introduc-ing their Gas Blow Back M4 rifle. The RS M4A1 will have both the RIS model and plastic hand guard model. The prototype at the show was the RIS verison which weight the same as a real steel m4. The gas system is a patent pending gas blow back engine that is fully redesigned and set to make the standard even higher in the gas blow back market. The receiver is 7075-T6 Duralumin forged, CNC machined with a hard coat anodizing finish. The outer barrel is a steel one piece barrel

with 14mm counter clockwise threads for all kinds of flash hiders and barrel extentions. The selector switch is ambidextrous thus making it an adapt-able training weapon. It will be nice to see this in final produc-tion, but there is no word on if the release date is solid for the end of the summer. Other armalite AEG models include the M4A1 and M16 length versions using the Real Sword Version T5 gearbox, which is newly re-designed to make the receiver size and dissasembly the same as the real steel counterpart. And finally, more good news! Real Sword has opened up another warehouse facility in the east coast making it easier to receive their products and get technical support. Right now they have one warehouse in Missouri and the newer warehouse should be up and running by this spring. We look forward to the new offerings from Real Sword, thanks to the sales representatives for all the info!

There was not one single manu-facturer showing more new items than G&G ARMAMENT / 101 TECH. This upcoming 2010 season is brimmed with airsoft excit-ment over the offerings of G&G ARMAMENT. The obvious place to start this list is with the G-2010. The G-2010 is a high quality nylon/polymer body with a full metal 8mm ball bearing bushing version 6 gearbox, with a quick spring/power replacement mechanism, high torque long motor, and redesigned top adjusted hopup. Although still in its prototype phase, the sample that G&G had gave the best look at the almost finished product. The quick separation of the recievers and the ease of getting to the gearbox shows the detail and quality G&G Armament is known for. Unfor-tuneately, there is no set release date on the G-2010. Together with the G2010 was the GK17-Heavy. As a functioning prototype the GK17-Heavy had an 8mm ball bearing bush-ings gearbox, high torque gears and a high torque motor.

The prototype was shooting 420fps on the average so it still needs to be tweaked down to safety specifications. Right now there is no set date on release on the GK17-Heavy, but they are working on a late fall early winter release of 2010. Next on the display case was the RAIDER DST series rifle. This electronic blow back model isn’t quite new but the desert tan color is. Along with the new color some of the newer features include a finger groved pistol grip and new RIS/RAS lengths. The RAIDER line is in full production now and will probably hit the shelves in March or April. Along with the RAIDER series, G&G plans to expand the electronic blowback models to the RK, G3, and EGM series of rifles and smg’s. Additionally complying with airsoft laws around the world and here in the U.S. they are producing the translucent M4, AK, MP5, UMP versions of their Combat Machine series. Right now they are concentraiting productions for our neighbors in the north,

but we may see some of the clear bodies, if there is a need here in the United States. Rumored to be released last year but only hit the production line this year was the G&G GR14 G-EBR, with a full metal outer body, 8mm ball bearing bushing gearbox, and a high torque motor. There is finally confirma-tion of this rifle coming out early summer, and believe me, for you m-14 fans it was worth the wait. What was a really nice surprise was the steel stamped m5 prototype. Featuring a blowback system gearbox that will have an easy power management system and an 11.1v lipo battery built right into the hand-guard. Unfortunately I’m told this may never come to full production as there are licensing and other factors that make this product lost in prototype land. Along with the m5 prototype, the G96 gas prototype is in it’s final prototype stages, as they had shown us the different colored stocks that you can purchase it in.

There is no set release date on the G96 but the reps had said they project early fall of this year. On top of all this, G&G plans to increase the C.R.W. line. The Close Range Weapon made its debut last year for G&G and they are adding two more models the Viper, and Cannon. The first C.R.W. had a ready mag, and a rear sling adaptorcap. These new C.R.W’s come with extended inner barrels, pistol stocks and new flash hiders. Internally they stay the same with the 8mm ball bearing busihing gearbox, high torque gearset, and high torque motor. But the new exteriors make them better balanced and easier to wield. Last but not the least, G&G will re-lease a illuminator bb and another color in its BIO degradable bb line. The illuminator and new sand tan color BIO and bbs are available now for purchase. We at ChairsoftMagazine.com only use G&G bb’s for our testing and reviews since because of their high precision and quality. Many thanks goes out to the staff at G&G for their time and information!

There was alot of hype coming from the forums about the new releases that KWA had at Shot Show 2010, and KWA USA did not disappoint. Coming from a strong reputation of build designs and quality KWA USA has alot planned for the up coming 2010 season. The first announcement is the newly designed m4 Gas Blow Back Training Rifle. Engineered from the ground up, the KWA prototype m4 Gas In Mag rifle was impressive. This prototype was specifically tailored for training facilities weather it be military or law enforcement. It has an ambidex-trous selector switch, and MIL-SPEC real steel rail system. Little was said about the gas blowback system aside from utilizing a new bolt design, so the recoil on the m4 is much harder than your normal gas blow back rifle.

rifles are out of the box lipo ready, and the KM4 SR7 should be shooting 350 fps and above. All the new Gas Blow Back SMG’s pistols will be outfitted with the KWA NS2 system. For those of you who are not familiar with the NS2 system, it is a KWA patented design that utilizes an advanced lightweight gas piston with a two-stage internal expansion chamber that delievers the gas more efficiently than that of any other gas delivery system. The NS2 design increases the weapon cycle rate and also provides for realistic blow back action and also makes the shots more consistent. Following the release of the mp7 gas blowback SMG, KWA is releas-ing the KMP9 and KMP9R series. The KMP9(R) will utilize the NS2 system and come in a nylon/polymer body, side folding stock, functional cocking handle and bolt mechanism, and in a variety of colors from black, dark earth, and ranger green. This will shoot close to 350+ fps out of the box when released. The KPM9 will either be sold with the integrated foregrip or the MIL-SPEC 1913 rail so you can attach your own foregrip.

This prototype rifle was chronoed well above 400 fps but will be tuned down slightly for safety reasons. The only issue the KWA team said to me were the magazines. The magazine needed to be reinforced due to the magazine being dropped during reloads in trainings.

KWA’s Gas Blowback Rifle RIS

KWA’s Gas Blowback Rifle Body So a big plus on that side for KWA realizing an issue to make some-thing of higher quality. This new rifle is slotted to go into production this spring and be released in the summer of 2010, pending that there aren’t any more design issues. In addition to the new gas blowback rifle, KWA is releasing the KM4 SR7. The KM4 SR7 rifle will be outfitted with the 2GX gearbox. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the 2GX gearbox, according to the KWA techs, the 2GX was engineered with structural reinforcement in areas that are prone to cold temperature failures typically found in high velocity gear-boxes. Each shell is manufactured with high grade alloy steel. Radial cuts placed near the cylinder head absorbs the energy impact of the piston prevent-ing premature metal fatigue leading to shell fractures. The 2GX comes with hardened tool steel gears with 9mm high speed bearing bushings. Along with the 2GX gearbox the KM4 SR7 will have a high torque motor, and 7 inch free float rail system. As always KWA’s

Not to be overshadowed by their line of new rifles and SMG’s, the KWA pistol line was increased with new models such as the 2011 FORMULA 5.0 and 5.1. The 2011 FORMULA 5.0 and 5.1 are both full metal bodied with polymer grips, high impact polymer outer barrel, NS2 internals, and shoot approximately 330fps with .20g bb’s. Externally they both have a beavertail grip safety, ambidextrous thumb safety, skeletonized hammer and trigger, and adjustable hop-up. The 5.0 has a MIL-SPEC 1913 picatinny rail, and regular combat sight. The 5.1 comes with an adjustable combat sight and a larger lower grip lip. Next is the new 1911 MK I - IV PTP series pistols, each with full metal bodies, polymer outer barrels, beavertail grip safeties, NS2 systems, adjustible hop-ups, and combat sights. The MK II version with a rail system, different textured polymer grips, and comes in both black and desert tan. The MK IV has an additional color of OD green. Furthermore, on the new pistol line is the MK23 SPECWAR. The MK23SPECWAR has a metal slide, composite

polymer lower frame, high impact poly-mer threaded outer barrel, NS2 system, ambidextrous functional decocking safety, accessory rail, ambidextrous magazine release, 3-dot combat sight, and adjustable hop up. Sorry folks, there will not be a LAM unit made for this pistol. It seems to be a very exciting year for KWA fans, for more informa-tion you can go to www.kwausa.com. Thanks to Allen Lau for the tour and information at Shot Show!

I Chih Shivan Enterprise Co. LTD *(ICS) has a few notable items being released later in the year such as their new MX5 series SMG. This MX5 will be lipo ready with a 3 round burst mode mosfet gearbox with 7mm bushings, steel casted gearset, and a high torque motor. The RIS and upper reciever will be full metal while the grip and the new fully adjustable stock will be a high quality polymer. Still in the prototype phase this smg looked very promising with the 3 burst mode. This rifle is set for a release date sometime in April. Above the MX5 was the prototype of the ICS FNC. This was just in the casing but the description said that it would have the split gearbox design, realistic weight, mosfet for single, tri-burst, and full auto modes. This may or may not come out until 2011 depend-ing on design and gearbox issues. Below that was the fully wood model of the ICS-190 MGL. The MGL is built for economy, and will have a polymer body, RIS front and top rails, with a stock tube add on to use retractible m4 stocks. There won’t be any word about this until 2011. Most of the other displays were the “L” series rifles with the adjustible spring power gearboxes, and the GALIL series rifles.ICS is doing alot of external upgrades of their popular, SIG series adding the cheek rest on stock, after market grips, and a quad rail full metal front RIS. Other new parts included the push button C-Mag for m4 rifles, lipo batter-ies, and new stocks. Many thanks goes to the ICS staff for all of the information.

Leapers, INC. by far had one if the largest booth out of all the manufacturers at Shot Show and rightfully so, with their line of airsoft training weapons, tactical equipment, and optics makes this a popular stop out of all the exhibitions for both real steel shooters and airsoft enthusiasts. New from their tactical armor line is the 10 piece set combining their tactical vest,

pistol belt, two drop leg platforms, assorted magazine both pistol and rifle, and general purpose pouches, making it a one stop pur-chase for a nice starter package. On the optics front, the UTG 30mm SWAT 3-12x44 full size AO Mildot RGB EZ-TAP scope was impressive as the EZ-TAP has a red and green touch switch for ease of on/off and adjustment of brightness. Other ac-cessories included front sight laser pointers,

LED pistol flashlights, LED weapon flashlight and W/E Adjustable red laser combo. New to the airsoft line is the Shadow Ops Upgrade Kit for thier sniper series rifles. This upgrade kit includes an upgraded spring, metal piston, and metal spring guide with torque absorbing ball bearings. The upgrade set should give a 20% power increase and is easy to install. Lastly is the new UTG full metal M4

CQB-OPS airsoft rifle. This rifle will come with a full metal body, full metal front RIS, metal tri-rail gas block, flip up rear and front sights, and a folding front grip. Since I am not totally familiar with the UTG airsoft line internals, what I am told is the gearbox is the standard version 2 with 7mm metal bushings, and a high torque UTG motor. The front RIS is what is most unique about this rifle. It has a wider

bottom allowing it to hold a large type battery. If you’re not a big fan of the larger type RIS then there are numerous replacement parts available from UTG. I look forward to review-ing the UTG/LEAPERS line of airsoft rifles in the next few issues of the magazine to for-mulate a solid opinion. Many thanks to Tony Mao of LEAPERS INC. who took the time to give me all the information!

OUT OF THE BOX: I was very excited to get my hands on this rifle because, I admit that I am very fond of the newer m4 class weapons than the standard armalite versions. I was greatly surprised to see that this rifle package comes with two 300 round metal hi-cap mags, battery charger, 8.4v 1500 mah battery, faux PEQ, and the barrelextension. Echo1USA really provides their customers with value for their purchase,as I can easily see a new player purchasing one, and playing right off the bat.

The externals are quite nice as the front RIS is full metal while the body is ABS plastic. The ABS body is quite sturdy, as ECHO1USA seems to have made more improvements in manufacturing since the last one I’ve owned. The RIS is made up of aluminum instead of pot metal which is a huge plus in my book. The RIS is flush with the top rail of the upper receiver, but had a slight wobble. The rear metal sight drum lines up nicely with the front metal flip up sight.

EXTERNALS:

FIELD TESTING: Now let me make this clear, in previousECHO1USA 614 models, the fps was quite high rightout of the box, but this is the newer released enhanced version so whenchronoed, it was at a 360 fps average with .20g bb’s and a 790 rpm with the 8.4v battery. ** Weighing in at around 6.5 lbs with loaded magazine, the rifle felt sturdy while shouldering or running around with it. Slight arm adjustments needed to be made due to the front heaviness of the rifle. I also tested different types of mags tosee if there were any fit or feeding issues. With the MAG brand midcaps and other non ECHO1USA magazines I had used, there were no feeding issues or fit issues. Next, out came the targets for our usual50 - 100 - 125 foot range testing. I had setup two concentric circles of 4 inches for theinner and 8 inches for the outer. Dialing in the hopup I settled down on the bench and used 20 shots at each length.

The functional charging handle is metal, and it also has a fake bolt cover so if you leave the dust cover down, it has some protection from the outside elements. The body is trademarked with ECHO and ECHO614 Cal5.56mmx45. It also has a serial number close to the selector switch. Using the standard hi-cap mags, the magwell had a slight wobble left to right. The outer barrel, barrel extension are both metal, and If you should choose to use thebarrel extension, you may want to pick up an additional flash hider as the stock one may get ruined in removal. The small tamiya electrical wire exits out the lower left front hole from the RIS and is quite lengthy to reach all the way back should you want to place the plastic PEQ on either side of the RIS. The grip is textured, and slightly larger moving downwardto the grip lip, fitting snug in the palm ofmy hand. Sling adaptors are found on the front sight and the butt of the ABS stock.

First off, I was impressed at the ECHO1USA Enhanced 614 gearbox, as it is a matte black reinforced version 2gearbox, with 6mm metal bushings, metalspring guide, polycarb piston and ported poly carb piston head. The cylinder is stainless and the seals from the orings made the compression very strong.

The motor is the standard Echo 1 black motor, the barrel is 6.06mm and hasa two piece hopup. Dissasembly is quite straight forward as removing the upper is quite smooth, but please be aware that there is an electrical wire cover on the fake bolt release side of the lower. I had almost bent it out of shape trying to put the two receivers back together.

Conclusions: There have been some significantchanges since Echo1USA burst on the airsoft scene. Better manufacturing andquality control have boosted my opinion of this rifle where it is a major contender in my arsenal. For future upgrades, first,I will replace the motor with something in higher

Aggression and high action was thepace of the day as Chairsoft Magazinewas invited to the first annual “Warhouse Small Strike Team CQC Tournament” held in Ewing NJ. Old Man’s Warehouse, owned and operated by Walter “Old-Man” Johnson, a retired Air Force pilot, started out as an airsoft retail and repair shop, grew into “The Warhouse” NJ’s first indoor CQC field.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

THE GAMES Most games are fast and furious, and max out at a 4 vs 4 player ratio. The refs mix up the play with full elimination, body count timed, CTF, equipment restricted, bb mag limit games

THE WARHOUSE - CQB IN NEW JERSEY

5 Teams from all over NJ participated in the 3 vs.3 man, double elimination tournament. The registration fee was 60.00 USD per team *(the same as if one was to play for a 3 hour block), with the 1st and 2nd place teams awarded trophies, patches, and an assortment of prizes donated by Old Man and other NJ Airsoft sponsors. Over the course of the day, ODA-187, Team Ruthless, Team Shenanigans, Mad Dogs, and Patriot Company, played fullelimination, body count, capture the flag, and room clearing games to enable one team torise above the rest to win the overall tournament. After the dust settled, two teams were left standing as Patriot Company and Mad Dogs squared off for the title. In the end, Patriot Company held off Mad Dogs and captured the win to be named the 1st Annual Warhouse Small Strike Team CQC Tournament champs.

THE TOURNAMENT

With just over 3000 square feet, the playable area is jam packed with colums, small structures with windows and doorwaysto please the CQC hungry crowds lined up every weekend to play. The buildings and colums are set up so they can change aroundthe layout each week to keep things fresh forplayers. Safety is priority number one for thisfully insured facility, as players must attend amandatory safety training before a group starts to play. Safety netting protectswatchers in the staging area, with bb receptacles for safe and clearing the equipment are located conveniently at each exit of the field. Full face masks are required here to protect the player from any ricochets or close engagment distances. The FPS rules max out at 300 fps with both .2g and .25g bb’s, If the players rifle measures over 250 fps, they are restricted to semi-only only. Under 250 fps, gives the player the ability to use the full auto capability of smg’s, AEP’s, or short barreled AEG’s. The rules also limit the amount of bb’s you can carry onto the playing field to 300 rounds for AEG’s and SMG’s as to promote reloading and facilitate movement. GBB’s pistols are not restricted as players can carry as many mags as they own. Hand grenades that expel bb’s are allowed as are 40mm launchers.Players may carry extra bb’s onto the field and can reload their mags during the game. For those who want to play but do not have the lower FPS equipment; can rent masks, mp5’s, mp7’s, a wide assortment of GBB pistols, and shotguns at a nominal cost.

- Written by Reggie Escusa

throughout the playing time. Each game lasts no more than 10 mins for the exception of the body count game where players can respawn at their respective buildings. The most fun we had were the mix of SMG’s or pistol only games, as our group was challenged to clear the area, and reload when necessary. The refs keep the players jovial and watch over hits not necessarily felt if hit on equipment.

We highly reccomend the Warhouse for CQCindoor play as it provides a fun alternative environment for any player. We look forward to the many fun hours we will spend here asthey change the arrange-ment of structures each week.

SHOTS FOR TOTS:

A TOYS FOR TOTS EVENT

“With so much of our sport viewed as “politically incorrect, it is nice to know that during the holidays airsofters come out to an event to have fun and to support a charitable event.” - New Jersey Airsofter.

On December 12th, 2009, 90 airsofters braved the East Coast winter cold to come and support the U.S.M.C. Toys for Tots charitable drive. Hosted by Harborsite International, in Elmer NJ, players from all over the surrounding areas of NJ, NY, PA, and DEL converged on one of the premier law enforcement training facilities in Southern NJ to play paintball, airsoft, and have safety shooting courses offered for a donation to the charity. STC Sports, Airsoft Simulations, Fil-force, C3 Airsoft, and the NJAA gave an entrance fee of either a 10.00 cash donation, or a toy valued for the same amount to participate in skirmishes for either paintball or airsoft.

Skirmishes were held throughout the day combining both full elimination, prop gather-ing, and land domination making it a casual yet enjoyable event for all. The U.S.M.C. brought a 7 ton truck for the event and loaded all the toys that were to be distributed to the children of the Delaware area. With so much of our sport is over-shadowed by the “realistic” look of the replicas airsofters should dedicate more of their time and contributions on events such as these because of the direct effect on their respectivecommunities. Many thanks goes out to those who came out to donate and play, especially Harborsite who had donated their facilities to host us all!
