Wearables, mobile health

• 40% of physicians use mobile apps as part of care (US survey)

• The top adoption driver is the lack of time with patients during

consultations: mobile apps enable communication outside

• Health practitioners do not know how to charge. Some of them offer

subscription based models (e.g. 300 dollars a year for messaging)

• Some vendors, such as Withings, believe that smart bands will disappear

because consumers do not want to wear a new accessory. It leads them to

create smart watches, and soon to equip other brands’ watches

• The Shenzhen region in China, where most electronic equipment is built

can now produce smart bands at $13: the market becomes saturated
