Craftsmanship is used to make work look neat, trim, and realistic.
Ceramic Meals :
•It has to be a meal or part of a meal (dessert, main course, etc.)
•Pay attention to detail, changes in color and texture, and the realistic shape and form.
•Make the ceramic meal the same way you would with real food.
•It must be hollow inside for good air ventilation. If it’s solid, it will explode in the kiln!
•CRAFTSMANSHIP counts! Make it neat, trim, and realistic
Sketches:•Think of a meal and how you are going to construct it.
•Make notes of:
•Details
•Changes in color & texture
•Construction of the piece
•How is it made in real life?
Construction of the meal (vocab):
•Coil method: when clay is rolled out into ropelike coils and stacked on top of each other.
•Pinch pot: a bowl-shaped clay piece made from pinching a ball of clay from the inside
•Slab method: joining flat pieces of clay with slip.
•Form: a real 3D shape that takes up space.
