Ceramic and Related Industry Development Directorate profile The sub- sectors are supported by this directorate is ceramic, marble, terrazzo, bricks and roof tiles. These sectors are very important and crucial inputs in Ethiopian construction industry. Because now a day’s construction industry in Ethiopia is highly developed and it needs more demand of ceramic and related construction inputs. Based on the construction demands the sector is focused in the industries are invested the above sectors by giving them how to attract investment, technology selection, technical support and awareness of all the industries they needs about the above industries. The ceramics industry in Ethiopia includes the manufacture of ceramic products like floor and wall tiles, insulator and sanitary, kitchen wares clay structure. There is only one Ceramics industry which is Tabor Ceramic products S.C, its production capacity is 6000 tons of floor and wall tiles and sanitary and kitchen wares. Now additional 3 new ceramic projects are under projects implementation after one year they will be start production in addition of tabor ceramic tiles expansion project. There are more than 50 marble industries and above 20 terrazzo and 1 bricks known industries in Ethiopia. But there are no roof tile industries. Currently this subsector, construction inputs industry are producing a variety of product the ceramics, marble, terrazzo and bricks which are very important inputs of the construction industry.
