A message from Fr. David:
I humbly ask all of us, clergy and parish staff included, to
avoid any unnecessary talking inside of the church. It is a sacred
space and we need to get into the habit of practicing sacred
silence, out of respect for the sacred space, the presence of the
Blessed Sacrament, and for the people who have come to pray. You
will notice that without the carpet and cushions, that our voices
carry much louder and farther. Even within the narthex we need to
be mindful. If talking is necessary, please do so at a whisper. We
have some wonderful outdoor spaces and courtyards that we can use
for socializing.
I continue to be overwhelmed at the great number of people
returning to Sunday Mass. As we get used to the new space,
please be
patient with us as we will do our best to make accommodations
con-
cerning our approach to the ongoing pandemic.
As a reminder, our Bishop has mandated the wearing of
masks for the entirety of Mass because we cannot ensure 6
feet
social separation. This mandate continues to apply to
everyone.
Anyone who does not want to wear a mask, please remember
that our bishop has extended the dispensation for attending
Mass.
If maintaining social distance is a priority for you, I
encourage
you to consider attending the 4 pm Mass on Saturday or the 7 am
Mass
on Sunday. While we cannot guarantee any specific distancing, we
will
try to block every other row at these Masses. If you choose to
attend the
9 am, 11 am, and 5 pm Masses on Sunday, please be prepared to be
a
little closer to each other; again, this is the reason for the
wearing of
masks.
Also, with the increasing number of people, we thought that
it
would be helpful to remind everyone about the procedures for
receiving
Holy Communion here at Holy Family: Once the priest receives
from the chalice, it is time for the people to
come forward to receive.
As usual, the communion line forms down the main aisle
Then starting from the center of the sanctuary and continuing
out
toward the left and right, line up right at the base of the
steps to
the sanctuary.
You can space yourselves; there is no need to maintain 6 feet
apart.
For families and groups who are sitting next to each other,
please
stand right next to each other
If you desire to kneel as you receive, please kneel on the first
step.
If you are receiving in the hand, you are to bow as a sign
of
reverence, then hold your hands flat, one on top of the
other.
Both hands must be free.
· If you are receiving on the tongue, you must come to the
priest,
who will distribute on the LEFT SIDE. Please tilt head back and
stick
tongue out beyond the teeth.
· If your mask has already been removed please refrain from
say-
ing Amen out loud.
You shouldn’t walk away until after you have consumed the
Host
and put your mask back on.
As each person turns to walk back to their seat, the next
person
standing in the center aisle should immediately fill in the
spot
that was vacated.

If you are expecting, or know someone who is expecting, please
e-mail Donna Addeo at [email protected], chair of the Elizabeth
Ministry to be included on the prayer list.
Stop in and Light a Candle in the Church! Candles are lit for
prayer intentions. To "light a candle for someone" indicates one's
intention to say a prayer for another person, and the candle
symbolizes that prayer.
