47th Sorghum AGM - Bengaluru April 2017
Major thrust at the centre• Development of dual purpose HYV/H with good grain and
fodder yield• Development of New MS and Restorers• Evaluation of germplasm for different desirable traits• Formulation of improved production technology for new dual
purpose sorghum varieties and hybrids• To develop sustainable and benefit cost effective production
technology i.e. increase the yields and returns under NM and INMfor unfavorable abiotic conditions in changing climatic scenario.
• Dissemination of the improved production technology of sorghumamong the farmers for higher productivity through conduction ofFLDs/TSP
• Identification of the landraces and elite genotypes for theresistance/ tolerance to shoot fly and stem borer
• Development of integrated plant protection measures for sorghumin changing climate

1(K)C 1K (C): Response of pre-released sorghum genotypes to different fertility (Grain sorghum)
• Application of 125 % recommendedfertilizer dose (100: 50: 50 kg N: P2O5: K2Oha-1) gave significantly higher, but higher B:C ratio was obtained by 100 %recommended fertilizer dose (80: 40: 40 kgN: P2O5: K2O ha-1) as compared to 75 %recommended fertilizer dose (60: 30: 30 kgN: P2O5: K2O ha-1) .
• Sorghum hybrid SPH 1778 and variety SPV2307 were found promising against testvariety SPV 2296 and check CSV 20. Butsignificantly higher dry fodder yield, obtained by SPH 1779.
Three years mean :1. 75% RDN through inorganic fertilizer+25% RDN
through vermicompost+ seed treatment with PSB+Azospirillum microbial fertilizers and 100% RDNthrough inorganic fertilizer at par with each other andproduced significantly higher sorghum grain yield(4883 and 4733 kg ha-1), and dry fodder yield ( 13774and 13496) net return ( Rs 74873 and 76784) ascompared to other treatments in sorghum.
2. Sorghum- chickpea cropping system75% RDN throughinorganic fertilizer+25% RDN through vermicompost+seed treatment with PSB+ Azospirillum and 100% RDNthrough inorganic fertilizer at par with each other andobtained significantly higher return as compared to othertreatments in sorghum.
