sidewalk closings: permits required

If you are a business owner contracting work to be done on your building in the downtown area, you will need to submit a request to have any sidewalk or street anywhere closed for whatever reason. The request should be submitted to Lt. Benedict at [email protected] or brought to the police department addressed to him. The Board of Public Works and Safety meetings are held every Thursday at 5:00 p.m. and any agenda items for a meeting must be submitted to the Clerk’s office by 12:00 noon the previous Tuesday by Lt. Benedict.

Any such requests should be sent to Benedict at least three weeks in advance. This would give him time to investigate the request and submit a recommendation to the Board by the agenda deadline. He will then notify the requester of the disposition of the request.

If you need any assistance with this, please don’t hesitate to contact Jason Whitney or Beth Fields at Center City Development Corporation. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this issue!
