Class: 7x

Page 2: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

• Cell membrane- regulates what enters or leaves the cell

• Nucleus- runs cells activity and controls it

• Cytoplasm- contains various of cell structures and is the site of most cell activity

• E.R.- serves as a pass way through the cytoplasm as a support structure for the attachment of other organelles and as a workstation for the ribosomes.

• -rough E.R.- has ribosomes attached to it

• -smooth E.R.- acts as a storage organelle

• Golgi Apparatus- products are transferred to the Golgi apparatus

• Lysosomes-small round structures that break down large food particles into smaller ones.

• Vacuole- the storage area of the cell

• Ribosomes- produce proteins

• Mitochondrion- produce the energy the cell needs to carrie out its functions

• Nuclear pore- large protein complexes that cross the nuclear envelope which is the double membrane surrounding the eukaryotic cell nucleus

• Nuclear envelope- allows materials to pass in and out of the nucleus

Cell membrane The cell membrane is like the

doorman at a hotel because he lets people in and out of the building.

Page 4: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

Nuclear envelope

The nuclear envelope Is like the people at the front desk because they help you and if you need the

manager they will let you talk to him.

Page 5: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

Nucleus

The nucleus is like the manager because he is in charge and controls

the activities in the hotel.

Page 6: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

Nuclear pore The nuclear pore is like the guests because they cross the front desk

(nuclear envelope)

Page 7: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

Cytoplasm The cytoplasm is like the elevator

because it let's people travel around the hotel.

Page 8: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

E.R.

The rough ER is like the lobby because that's where people are (like the ribosomes are on the rough ER)

The smooth ER is like the empty

hallways because it is like a pathway (empty because there are no

ribosomes)

Page 9: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

Lysosome The lysosome is like the

housekeeping at the hotel because they clean like the lysosome.

Page 10: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

Ribosome The Ribosome is like the kitchen staff because they make the food like the ribosome makes proteins (there is

protein in food)

Page 11: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

Golgi apparatus The Golgi apparatus is like room service because they transfer the

food to the room like the GA transfers products

Page 12: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

VacuoleThe vacuole is like the storage closet because the vacuole stores things.

Page 13: Cell Project Emma t and jessica m

Mitochondrion The mitochondrion is like the fitness

center/gym because that's where people have a lot of energy.
