It is becoming easier than ever for anyone to drastically alter their photos with new technologies and programs such as Photoshop. The amount of editing done to celebrities and in advertising has become a major issue in society. These photos are so extremely altered that they are responsible for some false advertising and also for the viewing of unachievable beauty. Many, if not most, celebrities we see in magazines and online are in fact, photo shopped. We as a society have become so used to this, that we dont always notice the amount of editing being done.

Ralph Lauren fired Filippa because she couldnt fit in the sample clothes anymore and was too fat."They fired me because they said I was overweight"{In 2009, Filippa was fired by Ralph Lauren (SLIDE 3). People were shocked at this news. How could anyone consider a size 4 model overweight?

A new ad shows the model Filippa Hamilton sporting the designer's latest ensemble, but, through photo-editing, her waist has been whittled down to appear smaller than her head.-Ki Mae Heussner, ABC NewsJust after she was fired, this image was mistakenly released online and in a Japanese department store. This image was disturbing to the world as well as to Filippa. She said that she didnt even recognize herself and was sick with what she saw. 4Filippas comments on the photo:I saw my face on this extremely skinny body-thats not me.

It's sad Ralph Lauren wants this kind of image-and it's not healthy, it's not right.

I am very proud of what I look like, and I think a role model should look healthy.

Her lawyer Geoffrey Menin said the image is "gross distortion of how she really looks and which we fear will be extremely damaging to her." Hamilton said she was concerned about its impact on the public.
