The short story “How we kept Mother’s Day” by a well-known Canadian writer ,Steven Leacock, depicts family relationship. So, the text begins with the preparation of Mother’s Day. The family decides to thank the mother for all that she had done for them. They plan a beautiful day together but the organization of this day is done by the Mother. She even stays home in order to prepare the dinner but, never the less, she thanks her family for this wonderful day with tears in her eyes.

We should celebrate and be thankful to our mothers every day of the year but, unfortunately, we often

forget in our busy and fast-paced lives. This is one day of the year when we must not. This is one day of the year when we must all say to our mothers: “Thank

you for everything”.

Homework

• Mother's Day Speech Template• students can brainstorm what makes their

mothers special OR how mothers are celebrated in their country and speak on those topics as well. Using the brainstormed ideas, have the students fill out their Mother's Day Speech Template In small groups have the students practice their speeches with each other. Have each student present their Mother's Day speech to the class. As a follow-up you can assign students to write their speech in paragraph form.
