Est.1986ISSUE: SUMMER 2016
The first Corporate Challenge, underwritten by Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, was a success! Congratulations to You’re First LLC for placing first in the all-around.
CORPORATE CHALLENGE
To accommodate the continued growth toward the western boundary of the district, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD will open two new high schools by 2017.
CFISD’s 11th high school, Cypress Park High School, opened to ninth-grade students only on Aug. 22, 2016. The school, located at
7425 Westgreen Blvd. in the Cypress Oaks com-munity, will ultimately serve 3,300 students in the southwestern region of the district and will provide relief to Cy-press Lakes and Cypress Springs high schools. Cypress Park’s principal is Chris Hecker, who previ-ously served as principal at Dean Middle School.
Designed by PBK Architects and built by Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, the school was named in recognition of the nearby Texas State Highway 99 that is more commonly known as The Grand Parkway.
The 591,000-square-foot facility features a three-floor academic wing, 860-seat auditorium and
Business After Hours is the perfect opportunity to market your business to 50-75 members. June’s BAH was held at The Boardwalk at Towne Lake and offered great networking opportunities. Our next BAH will be on September 28 at Mercantil Commercebank.

As we are finishing out our 30th anniversary celebration year, the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce is proud to an-nounce the growth in our area is being felt in our membership numbers. Month after month we continue to get inquiries about how our membership can benefit their business.
New members and community members are surprised when we mention how many people actually live in Cy-Fair. An unofficial number we are hearing is that our population has grown to 787,000 people living in our 14 zip codes. Our Cy-Fair community is also celebrating the opening of the 11th High School. This is a sign of growth in our area. A principle reason people who are looking to move to Harris County are choosing the Cy-Fair community is because of our excellent schools. We are welcoming over 120,000 students into the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District this fall.
The retail growth is exploding along the Grand Parkway and evolving as we begin to see more progress in the expansion of Hwy. 290. We should be enjoying the new roads by the end of next year. This cannot come soon enough! We very much appreciate our relationship with the Texas Department of Transportation at the state level, as well as the local Houston regional offices. We are able to anticipate closings and changes in traffic patterns through updates from www.my290.com. If you haven’t registered your email with this website, it is not too late. You will get updates twice a week about road closures.
As you finish out your year, we hope that you continue to use the Cy-Fair Chamber as a valued resource for your business, transportation and overall community needs.
All the best!
