Hello… Celeb Styles magazine has been around for one year this month. To celebrate our 1st anniversary we have a real treat for you in this issue! We’ve bumped it up to 84 pages, and have added loads more styles for you to enjoy. And for those who love the Kardashians/Jenners, in this issue you will be able to get their look on pages 10 to 11. We get a little closer to the gorgeous Kendall Jenner on pages 79 to 81.
Winter is definitely in the air and nothing beats a new pair of boots — we share some fabulous must-have winter boots on page 14.
In this issue we chat to Dustin Coutts who made his dream come true and opened his own salon, Bellezza Hair Design (pages 60 and 61). His salon is so stylish take a look on pages 58 and 59. We wish you all the best on your new venture Dustin!
The incredibly talented Clinton Valjeaux, part owner of Jeauval, shares a few lessons with Celeb Styles on what has carried him through the years on page 5. What stood out for me with his interview was two key things…
happiness and passion. Clinton’s family is his first priority (happiness) and his advice to all, ‘Find your passion before the pay cheque, the truth is if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life’ well said Clinton (passion). That is exactly what our motto is at APC Publishers; you have to love what you do! Make your dreams come true! Don’t wait! Start NOW!
Celeb Styles is a magazine for all salons to share their work. We have such talent in this industry, we want to share your work with the world! Even though we are a proudly South African magazine, our mag is a huge hit in America and England.
Get writing, share your styles and stories, we want your input.
Thank you to the team behind our magazine. It’s been a fabulous year!
Looking forward to the future.

5 - MINUTE INTERVIEW WITH
Clinton Valjeaux, part owner of Jeauval Hair Salon, reflects on the lessons that have carried him through
the years. He also shares his expert knowledge on opening a salon.
When did you start? My personal hairdressing career start-ed in 1983 and Jeauval Hair Salons in 1989.
What made you go on your own? We wanted to start a family business whereby we could uplift our industry by incorporating world class standards, systems and training initiatives. In our small way we contribute to the economy by creating employment in South Africa; our staff compliment is roughly 200 people.
If you could do one thing differently, what would it be? Reflecting upon my journey over the last 25 years, there is not one single thing I would have done differently.
Toughest decision I’ve ever had to make… Consolidating our group, at times we closed less via-ble salons due to exorbitant rentals, costs etc.
These are always tough business decisions but this creates future opportunities within our group.
The key to happiness is… My valuable blessings, my wife, children, family and very reliable team.
I know my salon made it when… I have retired, but that won’t happen for a long, long, time as my love and passion for my career and Jeauval keeps retirement far from my mind. I’m always striving for better quality and service which also prevents me from ever becoming stagnant or complaisant thinking we made it.......
The advice I’m glad I never took? In 1982, I was advised by a school teacher that a career in hair dressing was a bad decision. This proved to be the best motivation ever.
What advice do you give young stylists? Find your passion before the pay cheque, the truth is if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.

Raymond Germanotta has been working as a stylist at Paul James Hairdressing for eight years. “I’ve always had a passion for hairdressing but I enjoy and love doing avant-garde because you can be so creative when doing it and it inspires you to do more and
go further. When I’m building hair pieces it’s like my mind goes to another place that I can’t describe, it’s like being in your happy place,” says Raymond. I entered the Paul Mitchell hairstylist of the year competition and took part in the avant-garde section. I put a lot of time, effort and hard work into this competition and when they announced me as the winner I felt so proud, it was like a dream come true. It has always been one of my goals to enter and win the avant-garde section and it’s one of those moments that I will never forget. After winning the competition I am motivated to follow my dreams and make them a reality.
