PROMOTING WOMEN IN DECISION MAKING
Reasons for Promoting Women in Decision – Making Positions
It considered that, balancing participation of men and women in decision making
position is a pre- condition for improving the functioning for democracy and society, as
well as a respect for women’s right, their authomacy and their education, in a context
for shared responsibilities between women and men.
Ongoing under representation of women in political and economic decision-making
reflects a basic democratic deficit on the members and the broader international
context.

CDES CAMEROON ANNUAL REPORT 2014
CDES Cameroon saw it convincing of the need to make up for lost time. In view of the
un- representation of women in decision making bodies, it is a matter of urgency to
promote positive measures because those adopted to promote women participation in
decision making have had but limited impacts.
Therefore, there is the need to alert the communities and public at large for female
participation in decision making.
Importance of Promoting Women to Decision Making Positions
Equality rights is important because it can constrain the choice available for women in
many aspects of life .More women are educated and literate than ever before. More
women in position of power within an organization or government sees as strong role
model for younger girls .When girls see women from their own communities in
leadership positions, the possibilities for their own accomplishment becomes more
real.
Empowering woman, improving their representation and participation in all works of
life, but participation in the male- dominated world of business is critical to demonstrate
that women have the power to choose and define themselves, not only when it comes
to keeping a family together and organizing the household, but also in selecting their
career path.
When female are engaged more jobs are created, when they get involved literacy
poverty is eradicated, welfare support, family crisis centers support, women’s refuge,
reforms in the law, with women, any problem of the world get better. So it’s just fair to
promote them in decision making positions for things to get better.
This world is better placed when women have the power to lead.
Women bring a perspective that values not only competition but also collaboration to
organizations and teams.
Women leadership is more than important in today’s world is imperative whether in the
public or private sector organization that are led by inclusive leadership teams make
better decisions that deliver better results.
The qualities that are required to led in the 21st century include the ability to connect,
collaborate, empathize and communicate all qualities that tend to “female” in nature.
