NETWORKING

A collection of computing devices that are connected in various ways in order to communicate and share resources .

Page 3: Ccna presentation

TYPES OF NETWORK

LAN(Local Area Network) WAN(Wide Area Network) MAN(Metropolitan Area Network)

Page 4: Ccna presentation

LAN

A LAN is a computer network limited to a small area such as an office building, university, or even a residential home. Most mid to large-sized businesses today use LANs, which makes it easy for employees

to share information.

TYPES OF LAN

• RING TOPOLOGY• STAR TOPOLOGY• BUS TOPOLOGY• MESH TOPOLOGY

Page 6: Ccna presentation

• Ring Topology • A configuration that connects all nodes in a closed loop

on which messages travel in one direction .• Star Topology• A configuration that centers around one node to which all

others are connected and through which all messages are sent .

• Bus Topology• All nodes are connected to a single communication line

that carries messages in both directions . • Mesh Topology• In Mesh Topology each node is connected to every other

node.

WAN

A network that connects two or more local-area networks over a potentially large geographic distance

Page 9: Ccna presentation

MAN

A network spanning a physical area larger than LAN but smaller than WAN such as a city. A MAN is

typically owned and operated by a single entity such as a government body or large corporation .

SCOPE OF NETWORKING

• All IT/ITES based companies require Networking

• In software Industry also there are Networking Programmers

• Not only IT companies need network all of them need network to reduce workload
