Q&ACCM takes a time to do quick Q & A time with center director Garrett Render to ask about his move to Vegas, the past 6 months and his hopes for the new center

Q. What do you enjoy most about living in Vegas?

I really enjoy all the different places to eat around town

Q. Originally, you were slotted to take on the Las Vegas center; however, after prayer, we felt like the Henderson site was a better fit. Also, finding a site for your center has been quite a walk of faith. how would you describe the journey?

It’s definitely been a difficult journey. Between moving to the other side of the country and then not knowing where the center would be, this whole process has stretched my faith without a doubt

Continued on the next page...

Q. What is one word that you would use to describe your first 6 months in Vegas?

Q&A Continued...Q. Who has been your biggest encourager throughout this entire process?

My mom has definitely been my biggest source of encouragement throughout these past 6 months.

Q. Our readers may or may not know that you have a passion for music and the arts, how do you hope to incorporate those into the life of the center?

I just want to find ways to encourage the kids to find their creative voices, whether that’s offering some music programs, or art classes, I want to really help the kids grow creatively

Q. the henderson site is based out of an apartment, what are the benefits or challenges will the size of the space present?

Obviously the size might be challenge once we start growing, but I really like the size and feel of the center, it definitely creates a more personal atmosphere

Q. Last question, what are you looking forward to most about launching the center in just a couple weeks and how can our readers pray for you?

I’m looking forward to start pouring into the youth of this community. I could definitely use prayer for wisdom and diligence to listen to God’s voice every step of the way

A New BegiNNiNgcrack house to club christ

by evan hartsell

“We found a bag of cocaine when we were cleaning the apartment up for you.” Shared the apartment manager at the mulberry park Apartments about the space we will use for our new center. The space, the apartment complex and club christ all get a fresh start as we launch our new center.

The owner of the complex welcomed us into his community and offered to give us an apartment free of rent. We have already began painting the center for the launch of our summer program there June 18th. We love the location because it is directly across from our former center at Landsman Gardens.

it is also a neighborhood with a history of gang violence and drug use. The Landsman Garden’s teens from our center in told us, “that place is no good, you don’t want to go there.” We took that as another seal of approval that this community is where we NEED to be. There is already a buzz about us moving in and we can’t wait to meet the kids that god loves so much!

this summer we are hosting teams of teenagers from churches all over the country. Each group will be spending a week with us for their “mission trip.” We are so thankful that god is already providing the people we need to start our program strong! We will need your help once September rolls around to be a mentor, a tutor or a donor. Please email us by clicking HERE and let us know how you would like to be involved!

• Pray for our kick-off BBQ for the Henderson Learning Center on June 15. We are hoping to meet many families and begin to form relationships with parents.

• Ask for God to provide 10 new volunteers for the Henderson site, as well as open up church partnerships in east Las Vegas.

• Praise God for the $15,000 raised at the Hearts for Hope Ladies Tea. About 230 ladies attended.
