GPS Premier Juried Photography Exhibit at AAV Mark your Calendars for the Grayling Photographic Society’s (GPS) premier juried photography exhibit to be held at the AuSable Artisan

Village (AAV). The exhibit will be on display from March 1st through March 28

th. The AAV is open from 11 to 5 Monday through

Saturday and 11 to 3 on Sundays. A special “Meet the Photographers Social” will be held the evening of March 2nd

from 6 to 7:30pm,

with a slide show at 6:30. Come join us for refreshments and an opportunity to speak directly with this diverse, talented group of

Maple Syrup Day Saturday, Mar. 22

nd from 10am to 4pm at Hartwick Pines State Park - Learn about the history of maple sugar

making in North America as you help tap a maple tree and observe the boil-down process which converts maple sap

into maple syrup. Of course, the day would not be complete without sampling this tasty Michigan product. Children

can participate in a variety of fun and educational hands-on activities among their unique experiences; they will

construct a paper version of a mokuk, a birchbark container used by native peoples to transport maple sugar. This

event is free of charge, although a Michigan State Parks Recreation Passport is required for park entry. For more

Hanson Hills and XC Ski HQ Paintball Biathlon Saturday, March 22

nd & Sunday, March 23

rd (two locations) - The second annual Hanson Hills/XC Ski HQ Paintball Biathlon Series

welcomes men, women, and kids to compete in this 2-day event, combining cross country skiing with paintball target shooting. Here’s how it

works: adult racers ski a 1-2km loop (kids go 0.5-1km), then get five shots at a target with a paintball gun. This is repeated five times, and

then the racers cross the finish line. For each target hit, we deduct 10 seconds from the skiers’ finish time. It’s a total blast! Saturday’s

racing will take place at Hanson Hills, and Sunday’s race and awards will be at Cross Country Ski Headquarters. Can’t come for both

days? Don’t worry, there will be prizes for single-day winners too! Paintball guns provided.

Lucky Leprechaun 5k Saturday, March 22

nd from 12–3pm beginning at Grayling Fitness Center - Wear your Green & Earn your beads!

Run, hop or crawl starts at the Grayling Fitness Center and ends (road conditions permitting) at The Ole’Barn! Stops along

the way forward & back ~ The Gray Rock, Spikes and Thanks A Latte. Collect your green beads along the journey! Entry

AuSable Free Clinic Open House, Quilt Raffle & Silent Auction Monday, March 24

th from 5-8pm at the AuSable Free Clinic (1200 West North Down River Rd, Grayling) – join us for an open house,

Kirtland Hosting FREE Public Food Distribution Monday, March 25

th beginning at 1pm at Kirtland Community College Student Center (Roscommon) -

Kirtland Community College, Kirtland’s Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Omicron Gamma Chapter Honor Society,

Project Hope and the C.O.O.R. ISD are holding a FREE public food distribution. The event is open to students,

members of the Crawford, Ogemaw, Oscoda and Roscommon county communities, and anyone else in need of

assistance. The food distribution will begin at 1pm and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

People are asked to bring their own containers for carrying food and limited to one distribution per family. The

Creating Confident Caregivers Workshop Begins Tuesday, March 25

th (6-week series) from 1-3pm at Grayling City Hall – Instructor: Robin Petruska, Certified Master Trainer.

Have you started to have difficulty communicating with your family member? Are you frustrated with his/her inability to do simple things?

Have you noticed changes in your family member’s mood or personality? Does your family member exhibit decreased judgment? If you

Taking Medications Safely and Keeping Your Medications Safe Breakfast Presentation Thursday, March 27

th at 9am at Grayling Senior Center – Crawford County Commission on Aging & Mercy Hospital Grayling invite you

to a breakfast presentation focusing on taking medications safely and keeping your medications safe. Presenters: Dr. DeYoung from Mercy

Family Practice, Bonnie Gaiser, Medication Access Coordinator at the AuSable Free Clinic and Shelley Hubbard from Catholic Human

Services. Presentation and breakfast is free of charge for Crawford County residents and open to the public. Out of County residents will be

GPA and an active member of the community since she moved here to work for Blarney Stone Broadcasting. Let’s give
