Instruction for Q. Nos. 1 to 10 :

Read the paragraph carefully and answer the questions below it.

That genetic engineering had the potential to turn evolution upside down and inside out was known to be theoretically possible. No one was prepared for it when it actually happened. When last week a British scientist reproduced a sheep from its mother through genetic cloning, the news was received all around the world with near-disbelief. In India too scientists reacted broadly in the manner of their western counterparts. In the Indian Institute of science at Banglore where pioneering work on genetic engineering is under way, a senior scientist and chairman of the microbiology department Dr. K.P. Gopinathan described the cloning of “Dolly”, the British lamb as a fantastic achievement. But he cautioned that ethical questions would have to be convincingly answered before attempts are made to similarly clone human beings. Dr. Gopinathan himself has achieved considerable success in genetic engineering. His team is credited with having cloned the luminescence gene of the firefly onto a silkworm causing it to glow in the dark. His department is also at present working on a method to cultivate in a silkworm the gene that is responsible for the growth of an individual.

Q.1 Genetic cloning

Has been accomplished by scientists

Is yet to be accomplished

Will soon be possible

Will always remain an impossible feat

Q.2 The cloning of “Dolly”, the British lamb, has raised questions that are primarily

Q.3 Dr. K. P. Gopinathan, Chairperson of the microbiology department

Has condemned the cloning of Dolly

Remained indifferent of the cloning of Dolly

Hailed the cloning of Dolly

Was terrified at the feat of cloning Dolly

Q.4 Dr. K. P. Gopinathan himself

Has achieved considerable success in genetic engineering

Has failed in his research in genetic engineering

Is contemplating research in genetic engineering

None of the above

We talk about democracy but when it comes to any particular thing, we prefer a man belonging to our caste or community or religion. So long as we have this kind of temptation it means that our democracy is a phoney kind of democracy. We must be in a position to respect a man as a man and to extend opportunities for development to those who deserve them and not to those people who happen to belong to our community or race. This fact of favouritism and nepotism has been responsible for much discontent and ill will in our own country. If any one asks us why we suffer, we need not point to the stars above or say that God has punished us. We have to put it down to our iniquities, our disloyalties and our deviations from the ideals which we profess. True democrats must not communal prejudices and conflicts.

Q.5 When does our concepts of democracy become phoney?

It becomes phoney when we cease to put our caste or community above the country.

When people stop supporting the government

Page 21: cccccccccccc

When we prefer a man belonging to out caste, or religion

None of the above

Q.6 What should we do to make our democracy a reality?

We should favour people of our communities

We should put the interests of the other communities before ours

We should raise, ourselves above the narrow considerations of caste and respect a man as a man

None of the above

Q.7 What factor is responsible for creating ill will in our country?

Favouritism and nepotism is responsible for creating ill will in our country

The filling of ill well in our country is created by the insensitive nature of the people

The feeling of ill will in our country is the result of evil stars

None of the above

Q.8 True democrats must not tolerate

Corruption

Nepotism

Communal prejudices and conflicts

All of the above

According to Napoleon, “It is a approved maxim in war never to do what the enemy wishes you to do, for this reason alone that he desires it.” Non-violent resistance acts fully in accordance with Napoleon’s principle. Your violent opponent wants you to fight in the way to which he is accustomed. If you utterly decline, and adopt a method wholly new to him, you have thus gained an immediate tactical advantage. The surprise of non-violent resistance is effective because the opponent is so bound by his violent habits that he is ill prepared to utilize the new tactics himself. The surprise of non-violent resistance, unlike that of war, is not due to deceit or stratagem but simply due to its novelty.

Page 22: cccccccccccc

Q.9 The non-violent resister gains an immediate tactical advantage over his enemy because

He does not use the conventional method of war

He does not fight at all

He does not fight in a way his enemy is accustomed to

He does not face the enemy directly

Q.10 The non-violent resistance is effective because

The enemy is not able to use it himself

It is deceitful

It is a good strategy

It hardly encourages the enemy to fight back

Q.1). It was related to finding the average weight of the students. In the question, there was given average weight of the students in three different classes:

Section P-around 48 kg.

Q-around 45 kg.

R-around 50 kg.

Q.2).It was purely a mathematical problem. The equation that I got after solving the given situation had two unknowns.Hence, it appeared to be somewat twisted. But those two variables were also interrelated.Ot was sumwat like

S=(2Ax) +x2 -(B/4)

Where S=2x. & A,B were constants. It was xtrememly simple.

Q.3)Again an easy one. Some age problem or it was sumthing like that. But it was purely mathematical & again very very easy.An equation had to be formed & the answer was there.

Q.4).It was some pasage. So I didn’t solve it bcoz it appeared to be too time consuming.

Q.5).Again a lengthy one.But it was not a passage. It was like that some rules & regulations of U.S. Anti Terror team were mentioned and the question also mentioned about an organization which was trying to fight the terrorists.Based on the passage given were four different points(sentences) for choice and we were supposed to choose that option which would most correctly prove the arguement.

Q.6).A program(more precisely an algo) was given in the following manner:-

10 R=2.

20 R=R+2.

30 K=K+R.

40 J=K+2.

50 If(J>sumthing)

Q.12).Problem was basically on either Work & energy or on Time Distance.

Page 46: cccccccccccc

Q.13).Based on a pie chart. Though it appeared complicated but in fact it was very very easy.Every answer ia alwayz given there inj the pie chrt itself. The only thing is how do you apply brain 7 find the answer.

The pie chart showed the percentage distribution of some commodities, & we were supposed to find the dimensions of a new pie chart for another given prcentage distribution of commodities.

q.14).ome three different graphs mentioning about population were given & this time thye ques. was not inference based but purely fact based.

Q.15). It was extremely simple. It was an upstream downstream problem that we ppl used to solve in linear eqtions in about 7th std.

That genetic engineering had the potential to turn evolution upside down and inside out was known to be theoretically possible. No one was prepared for it when it actually happened. When last week a

Page 67: cccccccccccc

British scientist reproduced a sheep from its mother through genetic cloning, the news was received all around the world with near-disbelief.

Has been accomplished by scientists

Is yet to be accomplished

Will soon be possible

Will always remain an impossible feat

When we prefer a man belonging to out caste, or religion

None of the above

Q.6 What should we do to make our democracy a reality?

We should favour people of our communities

We should put the interests of the other communities before ours

We should raise, ourselves above the narrow considerations of caste and respect a man as a man

None of the above

Q.7 What factor is responsible for creating ill will in our country?

Favouritism and nepotism is responsible for creating ill will in our country

The filling of ill well in our country is created by the insensitive nature of the people

The feeling of ill will in our country is the result of evil stars

S=(2Ax) +x2 -(B/4)

Page 93: cccccccccccc

Instruction for Q. Nos.   1   to   10  : Read the paragraph carefully and answer the questions below it.That genetic engineering had the potential to turn evolution upside down and inside out was known to be theoretically possible.

Q.1 Genetic cloning

a. Has achieved considerable success in genetic engineeringb. Has failed in his research in genetic engineeringc. Is contemplating research in genetic engineeringd.

Q.5 When does our concepts of democracy become phoney?

a. It becomes phoney when we cease to put our caste or community above the country.b. When people stop supporting the governmentc. When we prefer a man belonging to out caste, or religiond. None of the above

Q.6 What should we do to make our democracy a reality?

a. We should favour people of our communitiesb. We should put the interests of the other communities before ours

Page 123: cccccccccccc

c. We should raise, ourselves above the narrow considerations of caste and respect a man as a man

d. None of the above

Q.7 What factor is responsible for creating ill will in our country?

a. Favouritism and nepotism is responsible for creating ill will in our countryb. The filling of ill well in our country is created by the insensitive nature of the peoplec. The feeling of ill will in our country is the result of evil starsd. None of the above

Q.8 True democrats must not tolerate

a. Corruptionb. Nepotismc. Communal prejudices and conflictsd.

Q.9 The non-violent resister gains an immediate tactical advantage over his enemy because

a. He does not use the conventional method of warb. He does not fight at allc. He does not fight in a way his enemy is accustomed tod. He does not face the enemy directly

Q.10 The non-violent resistance is effective because

a. The enemy is not able to use it himselfb. It is deceitfulc. It is a good strategyd. It hardly encourages the enemy to fight back

Test Paper :6 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences Test Date        : 5  May  2010  Test Location  : Satyam office, Near fortune Tower,BBSR, Orissa Posted By        : Suman subudhi. K

Hi Friends,

I want to share my experience of my dream companies interview which i had on may 5th, 2010 with  Satyam HR people.

Page 142: cccccccccccc

First there was a online written test on 2nd may, 2010 at GEC, Bbsr, Orissa. Around 15-20 colleges participated and 1000-1200 students appeared the written test. The result of written round was out on 3rd may, 2010 and out of these students only 50 students were selected for this next round. The next round was Technical and HR round which  was going to held on 5th may. I went to satyam office at bbsr on 5th may, 2010. There was 7 panels out of which 6 technical and 1 HR panel. I was called by evening 5.40pm for Technical.

The HR was quite good and cool  when i entered first he asked me about why you want to join Satyam since you have 3 jobs in hand as prior to it was selected in 3 more companies  and  i said as it is my dream company, then he swithced over to my project . You should be through about your project. Since i have  done my final year project in image processing (DISP), as i belong to ECE branch we had code 0f 250 lines. He asked me to write the code also after i wrote 38 lines he stopped me and jumped to C. He asked me for questions from C. Then he asked me puzzles like1. He told me you take five 1's and do what ever you like and bring 120.Answer:  (11* 11)-1

2. He made a triangle and said there is one temple in each corner of triangle and a pond  between two temples i.e., 3 temples and 3 ponds, A person went with some flowers and first dipped them in one pond it became double and offered some to one temple, then rest he dipped again in another temple and it became double again and then he offered some to another temple andrest again dipped to last pond and gav all flowers to last temple. At the end he found that all temples he gav same no. of flowers and no flowers remeined with him then he asked how many flowers did the person had intially and how he gave to each temple. Answer: 7 and 8 (the person had intially 7 flowers and gave 8 flowers to each temple).then he asked u say the fomula for this i said Answer: (2 to power n )-1 no. flowers the person had intially and   (2 to power n)  no of flowers he gav to each temple.{where and is no of temples in the question}

Then he asked 2 more puzzles, then he asked from data structure,(as example of stack and queue, heap sort, quick sort) then he asked from RDBMS and C++ (as candidate key, normalization, new and malloc, calloc etc,)then he jumped to os as bios, cpu scheduling, etc then he asked to write a small program.

Some questions i not able to recall anyhow then the HR said have a nice day. While coming when i came out it was 6.35pm i.e i had interview of 55 minutes. then after i went to HR interview at 7.00pm when i entered the HR said  "HR: So Suman how was and you? ME: Fine sir. HR: How was your technical?ME: Yes sir my technical was fine and and i'm satisfied. HR:So suman your technical was so good so what i will ask you in HR , so you can leave now, have a nice day and we will get you back on monday i.e on 10 th may."ME: Thank You sir."

Page 143: cccccccccccc

Then i returned from bbsr that day i was quite confident i will get selected but instead of 10th may the result was out on 12th may and i got selected. I was very happy and now i'm in Freshersworld.com a intern till the joining of Mahindra Satyam.

Good luck to all the guys who are going for Satyam interview and i suggest be strong in C, C++, RDBMS, datastructure, Operating system, final year project and Puzzles.

Hello Friends, This is "Phani Bhagawan" pursuing my 3rd year Engineering at Holy Mary Institute of Technology and Science. We had Satyam pool drive at Malla Reddy College of Engineering. Try to attempt the number of questions ranging from 7 to 9. The Syllabus was* Profit and Loss* Simple and Compound Interest* Probability(slightly)* Time and Work. Time and Distance* Logical questions

Page 148: cccccccccccc

Just refer R.S. Aggarwal that's it. If you are going to GRE Barron's 12th Edition. Then how much time will a alone would take to do the work (direct from R.S.Aggarwal without changing the numbers)4) From reasoning a bit difficult 5) Again reasoning the question was very big 6) A rectangle problem from areas 7) Logical deduction 8) He gave Ten statements and we have to deduce the 11 statement by using this 10 statements 9) A problem on Compound interest(direct from R.S. Aggarwal without even changing the numbers) 10) A passage was given a logical inference should be made.(very big but easy one) 11) A problem on permutations(damn easy) 12) A problem from data interpretation. It was on line graphs very big not easy to deduct the solution 13) A problem from profit and loss(Direct from R.S. Aggarwal he didn't even change the numbers)even the other two were from reasoning.

Joint campus placement drive held at C.E.C Landran near Chandigarh, Punjab around January 2008. Well I would give you a complete round up of my experience at the placement drive conducted by satyam computers. To begin with … Eligibility criteria :10th min 60%12th min 60%B. Tech – 60%2 back logs allowedAnd relaxation of 5 % in any one of the above. Now moving forward with the written exam…Now it constitutes of 15 questions that you have to do in 30 minutes. They are primarily from like everybody say from R.S. Aggarwal quantitative aptitude. Most of them are easy and can be done without any serious preparation but the ones like calendar, clock etc require sum practice. If you feel that you have less time to do it then just go through the formulae before each chapter and go through the unsolved examples there are more than sufficient! One or two questions may come from qualitative aptitude but nothing to panic they are logical and with just careful observation can be done easily and fast too. Remember there is a good chance that they keep an upper cutoff so kindly stick around 9-10 out of 15 . There is one fourth negative marking also. Don’t try to cheat and get very hi scores as upper cut off may lead to rejection. Anyways it was the first company i went for. Now you got to have a resume and whatever you have written in the resume must be correct. The point I want to convey is that you should be able to justify your resume and should answer any question asked based on your resume. Now the one question that is most expected one is….introduce yourself so be ready with the impressive intro as it is said the first impression is the last. Now the interviewer may be an HR or HR+tech or tech, now what comes your way is totally luck! Mine was an hr+tech. Now the interview scene was like this… Me: may I come in sir…Sir: come in..Me good evening sir (closing the door gently as the previous candidate was sent out and was not interviewed as he shut the door hard)Sir: sit downMe: thank you sir

Page 157: cccccccccccc

Sir: arun pandit from kullu wahan to bahit thandi hogi (sir was south Indian)Me:  yes sirSir: ok introduce yourself.. (Going through a form cum resume they asked to fill initially)Me: sir my name is arun pandit. Arun means sun.Sir: yes I knowMe: my father named me arun coz he appreciated a politician named Arun Nehru who was along the scenes in 1985.Sir : okMe : (then I told about schooling from Delhi till 8th and there after till 12th in sainik school sujanpur tihra etc…)Sir: your hobbies..Me: sir repairing and troubleshooting computer and reading latest tech news and computer technologies, software’s etc..Sir: continue..Me: reading books…Sir which kind of books…Me: sir motivational…, scientific thrillers..Sir: tell me any motivational book you have read…Me: sir I have read you can win and living with honor my shiv khera, alchemist by paul Coelho, monk who sold his Ferrari by robin Sharma, power thoughts by Robert Schuller, and my favorite being courage and confidence by …Sir: ok ok that’s gud what abt scientific thrillers..Me sir I have read all novels by Dan brown .. da Vinci code, angels and daemons ,digital fortress and deception point..Sir: continue..Me: sir I write poems…Sir : what kind of poems…Me : sir motivational..Sir: why?Me: sir many a times in my life i was down and broken and I just felt like giving up and accepting defeat but on one such day one of my friend sent an sms to me reading” I was crying of having no0 shoes until I saw a man without feet… take this world as a challenge prove ur mettle .these world really lifted me up… fail.. fall.. cry ..die .. but don’t give up.but still in some situation it didn’t help then I realized that just not giving up is not enough . one has to strike back with the double the intensity. As even a mountain stands among harsh climatic conditions, rain storm etc it never gives up but it is still standing at the very same place where it was yesterday so one has to strike back with the double the intensity in order to win and progress.Sir : that’s good…(now time for technical)Sir : which is your favorite subjectMe: sir networkingSir : what have you done in networking in practical..Me : sir I am the head of computer lab maintenance and computer awareness club of college and I have  implemented LAN, wireless LAN, .I have implemented domain, active directory, exchange server, dns, dhcp, iis and windows server 2003 nad have undertook training for Microsoft certification of mcp, mcsa and mcse.Sir : that’s v good.

Page 158: cccccccccccc

Ok tell me technical specifications of LAN , wanMe: replied correctly…If your college has another branch how would you interconnect them and why…me : we can go for wi fi if distance is less... or if the distance is more we can go for wi max the new technology.Sir : what about wan..Me: sir it would incur long lengths of cable and subsequently repeaters etc wi max would be a good alternativeSir : don’t mix technology with whts gud..Me: (realizing that he was in favors of wan) yes sir wi max is a new technology and therefore it would be costly to upgrade present hardware to suit wi max and practically it would be best to use wan but instead of normal cables we can go for optical fiber which has less errors, high speed and less repeaters requiredSir: you may go nowMe good day sir This was my interview. Others were also asked state capitals,  information about there home state, basics of subjects in b tech course like operating systems,c,c++,database, working of lcd etcBasically just go through all the main and important topics from them. The questions are mostly normal if you have done a quick recap of earlier semester subjects.Be prepared of the project or training undergone in 6 weeks.Basically be confident. Don’t bluff. If you don’t know or remember something then just say that u don’t know or cannot recollect now!I was select and I hope all of you also get selected. Work on ur personality and concepts as marks are just for eligibility the main thing is your knowledge and what you have learned. Remember success can be delayed but never denied to a hardworking person. Never give up!Impossible is nothing!Go get your dreams…
