Research Snapshot PresentationsAuthors of abstracts and case reports will summarize their findings in brief presentations. Presentations will be available over the course of the virtual Congress event, from January 31 through February 12, 2021.

Roundtable Discussions Connect with colleagues during virtual roundtable discussions. A wide variety of roundtable sessions are placed throughout the Congress schedule of events.

Master Class: Cardiovascular Physiology (Adult)Sunday, January 31, 20219:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Central Time

This class will cover basic principles of cardiac and vascular physiology. Physiologic principles and current data concerning the use of fluids and vasoactive agents in critically ill patients will also be addressed along with the technical aspects and clinical utility of tools commonly used to assess cardiac function, intravascular volume, and hemodynamic status. Master Class: Cardiovascular Physiology (Pediatrics)Tuesday, February 2, 20212:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Central Time

This class will provide experienced practitioners the most up-to-date information on the microbiology, physiology, and developmental changes in the patient with a single ventricle. Content will cover updated basic science, physiology, and treatment strategies for patients with acquired pulmonary hypertension. It will also provide content on updated physiologic and developmental changes in the pediatric heart transplant recipient as well as updated therapeutic options for patients with arrythmias and updated information related to both invasive and noninvasive cardiac output monitoring.

Master Class: Palliative Care Challenges in the ICUThursday, February 4, 20211:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Central Time

This class will address different multiprofessional model structures for implementing palliative care programs in the ICU (adult and pediatric) and will review causes of conflict between the ICU team, family surrogates, and other medical consultants. The class will also cover communication strategies for optimizing family-centered meetings to discuss goals of care and minimize conflict along with the differences and similarities in providing palliative care for adult versus pediatric populations through case-based presentation (diagnosis, treatment, and communication). Master Class: Reimagining Teaching InterprofessionallyThursday, February 11, 20211:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Central Time

This class will be taught as an interactive workshop that provides a rapid review of interprofessional education and adult learning theory as it applies to critical care. Attendees will brainstorm and review different interactive methods of interprofessional teaching strategies. Attendees will work in small interprofessional groups to develop a short teaching session that can be used at their home institutions.
