Welcome to the future of BMW diagnostics and reprogramming.

Complete BMW System (CBS) is an aftermarket system that provides innovative and comprehensive solutions for advanced BMW technicians.

This presentation demonstrates some of the capabilities of the CBS.

CBS includes all the software you’ll need to diagnose, re-program, and repair any BMW in a customized rugged laptop. CBS has eliminated the need for the ICOM, EDIC, and OPS interfaces. These have been replaced by a specially developed engineering interface and a top quality J2534 cable.

From the main screen, users have the option of selecting which CBS program they would like to access.

The CBS Incorporates the following software: BMW Solution ISTA/D ISTA/P E – Sys WDS ETK SSS (ZCS) SSS (FA) DIS 44 DIS 57+CIP

BMW Solution

BMW Solution > A custom designed software created for the advanced needs of today’s top technicians. Multiple advanced

features are available which provide an endless amount of potential opportunities for vehicle diagnosis,

customization and repair.

< Lobby From this screen, technicians can select from a wide variety of commands. For example: “Read Car” will

initialize a full vehicle scan providing complete information regarding current fault codes, vin number

information, hardware and software numbers, and flashing/coding options.

Flashing/Coding > From this screen, it is possible to modify any desired ECU. Using simple and quick operations, a technician can activate or deactivate any of parameters in ECU’s

such as seat occupancy. Flash/ Code (manual or default) of all ECU’s is supported.

< Emergency Flash If a critical ECU (like CAS) fails to respond due to incorrect coding or flashed software, the Emergency Flash function

will allow the technician to “ping” the ECU, inquiring about its current registered vin number, hardware number and software number. If necessary, a vin correction can be carried out to repair an ECU by re-coding or re-flashing. A technician can also change the hardware number of the

ECU if necessary.

BMW Solution Special Functions > Reset all ECU’s, SZL reset, Transmission; (adaptation, learning, pulse adaptation.)

Engine (reset smooth running values), Fix VIN, DSC Reset, CAD-DME alignment, Start system

time, Active Steering reset.

< Vehicle Order If a component or feature is going to be added into a

vehicle, a technician can select it via the Vehicle Order (VO). This prepares the car for coding by modification of the VO,

CAS, FRM, etc. After a successful VO modification, the technician can save his custom VO as a file and reload it onto the car for future use. This also serves as a backup of all the vehicle’s features

in case of flashing or coding failures.

ISTA – D / ISTA – P

ISTA/D & ISTA/P Both of these programs are part of the ISIS server which Consists of BMW’s newest line of diagnostics; ISTA/D and the most recent programming platform, ISTA/P. In combination, these programs allow technicians complete access to wiring diagrams, component location, guided diagnostics, and service information.

E - SYS

E-Sys E-Sys is BMW’s engineering software platform for vehicles. E-Sys is designed for manual coding and flashing of cars that are equipped with an Ethernet connection (F-series). Due to its complexity and extensive capabilities, it is strongly recommended that a technician receives proper training prior to using E-Sys. E-Sys features the SWE-Generator, TAL-Editor, FA/FP-Editor, TAL-Calculating, CAF-Viewer, TAL-Processing, and FDL Editor for populating data.

WDS - ETK

BMW WDS & ETK CBS Incorporates the Wiring Diagram System (WDS)

and the ETK (electronic parts catalog).

WDS covers older vehicles. Diagrams for new vehicles are found in the ISTA/D system.

ETK is a complete parts catalog for BMW vehicles. It

provides extensive information and part specifications.

SSS (ZCS, FA)

BMW SSS The SSS is the previous platform from which BMW technicians can flash and code vehicles. CBS Incorporates two versions of the SSS, v32, and v37 SSS v37 has been modified with files from ISTA/P and can function with vehicles which have been programmed coded or flashed using ISTA/P. The SSS system included in CBS can program modules independently rather than performing complete coding of the vehicle. This saves a technician considerable time when reprogramming or reflashing an ECU.

DIS 44 – DIS 57+CIP

DIS 44, 57+CIP The Diagnostic Information System (DIS) is BMW’s previous vehicle diagnostics platform which covers vehicles through MY2009. The CBS incorporates two versions of the DIS; v44 and v57. Version 57 has been loaded with coding files from v44 which enables technicians to perform diagnostics and coding without switching software. Version 57 also provides diagnostics for select Rolls Royce vehicles.
