This tells me we’re on the right track. “The past year has been one of building value, and one of the CBAA 2014 Smashes Records Changing of the guard: From Left Front row: Gordon Berturelli(former), Michael Fedele, David Hall, Rudy Toering, Frank Burke(former), Scott Harrold From Left Back row: Andrew Tuck, Jean Menard(former), Anthony Norejko, David Mann, BC Campbell, Jamie Vins. outcomes was the success of CBAA 2014. I am grateful and lucky to have had the direction of the board under Chair Frank Burke to help get us to where we are today. I look forward to our new board and Chair’s guidance to accomplish even more in the year to come.”
Frank Burke passed the gavel to new Chair, David Hall, who began his two year term at the AGM held in Edmonton. Joining David as members of the executive committee for 2014-2015 are Vice Chair, Rod Barnard, Flight Department Manager/ Chief Pilot, Kal Aviation Group, Secretary Andy Wilson, Treasurer Michael Fedele Vice President and General Manager, Execaire and Scott Harrold, Landmark Aviation.
CBAA is indebted to the member-led convention planning committees and
Signature Flight Support Edmonton for their guidance and support. CBAA 2015 will be held June 16 – 18 at Diamond Sponsor AVFUEL CYHU H-18 Services’ hangar-FBO-ramp facility at the Montreal St-Hubert airport. public, politicians and others, not understanding the value of the BA aircraft tool, love to pick on us. Let’s face it, the prime minister of Canada has to walk on egg shells to use his own corporate aircraft to run a country.
What hurts our efforts the most is the criticism, “so what is my membership worth?”, spoken in anger when we have not yet achieved our goal in representation of member needs. With an anti-business aviation bias tilting the odds against us, this is the time we need to stick together and not point fingers in frustration.
In the midst of this negativity comes the successes as we take our position again in the advocacy role we never should have left. Without the CBAA maintaining the pressure for proper consultation, we would not now be talking to the Minister of Transport staff. Through the Minister we are forcing TC to hold the proper meetings with the right experts to ensure they understand the multiple types of operations. CBAA understands – and advocates for – all types of business operation, from single owner-operator to fleets operating under 604, 703 and 704. Without CBAA, supported through strong membership, government will take the path of least resistance – easiest for them – and most destructive for us.
