LocalizationThe Cayman Islands  are

a British Overseas Territory in the western Caribbean Sea.

The territory comprises the three islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica.

The Cayman Islands are considered to be part of the geographic Western Caribbean Zone as well as the Greater Antilles.

The islands have never levied income tax, capital gains tax, or any wealth tax, making them a popular tax haven.

The Cayman Islands have more registered businesses than people.

The islands print their own currency, the Cayman Islands Dollar .

Caymanians have the highest standard of living in the Caribbean

Cayman Islands GDP per capita is the 14th highest in the world.

The Cayman Islands are a major international financial centre. The biggest sectors are banking, hedge fund formation and investment, structured finance and securitization, captive insurance, and general corporate activities.

EconomyThe Cayman Islands are the fifth-largest banking

centre in the world. In June 2008 there were 279 banks.The Cayman Islands were ranked as the world's

second most significant tax haven.

Geography The Cayman Islands remained largely

uninhabited until the 17th century.A variety of settlers from various

backgrounds made their home on the islands, including pirates, refugees from the Spanish Inquisition, shipwrecked sailors, and deserters from Oliver Cromwell's army in Jamaica.

The Cayman Islands are in the western Caribbean Sea and are the peaks of a massive underwater ridge, known as the Cayman Ridge.

GeographyGrand Cayman is by far the biggest island,

with an area of 197 km2.

Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, are about 120 km2.

The vast majority of the population resides on Grand Cayman, followed by Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, respectively.

ClimateThe Cayman Islands have a tropical marine

climate, with a wet season of warm, rainy summers (May to October) and a dry season of relatively cool winters (November to April).

A major natural hazard is the tropical cyclones that form during the Atlantic hurricane season from June to November.

SportsAssociation football is the national and most

popular sport, with the Cayman Islands national football team representing the Cayman Islands in FIFA.

Rugby Union is a developing sport, and has its own national men's team, women's team, and Sevens team.

Snapper, mackerel and Mahi-mahi which are usually prepared with tomato, Onion and peppers.

homeland of the Conch and Strombus Gigas, a type of Conch, who has been the staple dish for ages.

Conch is served marinated, in salads, in creamy chowders or in stews.

Mile BeachAll three islands offer scuba diving, and the

Cayman Islands are home to several snorkelling locations.

The most popular area to do snorkelling is Stingray City, Grand Cayman.
