ATTENTION OMPH SCHOOL FAMILIES-It’s Back to School Time! The family Back to School Information Packet will be available at your parish on the weekends of August 13th-14th and August 20th-21st. Included will be all school emergency information forms and affirmation/permission forms to be completed at the opening of the new school year. All registered school families are asked to please pick up your envelope in the church lobby after any Mass. If you are unable to get your envelope at this time, they will be available in the school office from August 23rd to 25th between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. The school newsletter, calendars, lunch menu and informational sheets will be emailed to families in mid-August. Thank you! OUR LADY’S GARDEN UPDATE: Thank you to all the generous parishioners who have donated vegetables, time and money to this worthwhile cause. The harvested vegetables are available after every weekend Mass through September. They are placed on a table in the grotto, free for the taking. All monetary donations are given to the New Holland food bank and any leftover vegetables are also given to the food bank. Summer is in full swing and so is the garden. One of our parishioners has even planted a section with an herb garden. Kale, green beans, zucchini, squash, carrots and cucumbers are available now. Tomatoes, sweet corn broccoli and peppers should be ready for harvest in the coming weeks. Pumpkins and eggplants are growing well and hopefully will be ready by late August or September. Weeding and harvesting help is always appreciated, especially on the weekend of July 30-31 because we will be on vacation. Please contact Kathy or Pat Naimoli at 717-354-6996 with any questions or to help. Again, thank you for your generosity. MESSENGERS FROM GOD, the prophets speak to us today just as much as they did to people of their own day. Our parish’s Great Adventure study The Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy, a 10-session video course, will begin in September. Look for more information in upcoming bulletins.

There Goes the Neighborhood Where you live determines how you live. If you live in an apartment, you have to be mindful of your neighbors. If you share a homeowners’ association, you have to follow its rules. Even if you have a private home in a gated community, you have to pay taxes and keep up with the bills. Where do you live? No, not your address. Not the apartment number. Not your street or neighborhood. Not the town you chose because of its beauty or proximity to work. Where do you live? You live with Christ. The Letter to the Colossians calls Christian brothers and sisters those who “were raised with Christ.” And it tells them, in a beautiful phrase, where they live: “Your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Because we were raised with Christ, we live above, and we should seek the things that pertain to life above, not to life below. “Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.” We have a classy address. We live with Christ in God. Where we live determines how we live. We put aside the wants of the earth: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed. We adopt the way of freedom and unity. It’s good for the neighborhood. We are hidden with Christ in God. We are so close to Christ, that when he, our life, appears, we will appear with him in glory. Written by Paul Turner.
