Kelly Phebus Owner & Resident Artist Kelly earned her BFA from St. Mary’s College of Maryland after earning her AA in Fine Arts from Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. She has received a number of awards for sculpture, painting and teaching in Maryland. While attending MC Rockville. She earned a position at the National Gallery of Art Frames Conservation Lab where she proudly contributed a new sample to the frame profiles library. It was amidst the collections and hidden vaults that the desire to share art experiences with the public first took seed. • Colored Pencil: Color TheoryTraditional techniques of cross hatching, blending and burnishing while brushing up on color theory.

• CharcoalWorking from a simple still life create a beautiful chiaroscuro study of light and shadow.

• Contour Drawing & Ink WashCombining drawing a still life or figurative composition with a loose ink wash.**Note: Life model available, on request, for model fee.

Drawing, Sketching & Charcoal:Classic foundation for artists.

Watercolor:

• Stained Glass Dragonfly or Tree of LifeA simple wax resist technique that mimics stained glass

• Irises or PoppiesA favorite watercolor subject

• Blowing TreesA soft background with watercolor. The tree is then created by blowing India ink with a straw.

Learn tips and tricks to shading and blending hues.

We offer both oil and chalk pastel techniques in these classic options.

** Water based ceramic clay will require kiln firing. High fired ceramic pieces are water tight and washable. Kiln firing services are based on availability. There will be a 3 week turn around for projects kiln fired by the gallery. $15 firing charge and option glazing charge will apply
