Setting Milestones

Since that time, Lane has set several industry milestones – including 19 mechanical patents – and industry firsts such as

the Wall Saver mechanism that is having a lasting influence in furniture design.

Lane’s commitment to innovation has made lives easier and more comfortable for decades with swivel designs, enhanced zero gravity mechanisms, and mechanisms that provide more el-evation, greater range of motion, en-hanced comfort and easier operation.

The company officially adopted Lane as its name inthe 1920’s and established a research and development program – unheard of in the furniture industry at the time.

In the 1950’s, Lane saw an opportunity to capitalize on a revolutionary new technology, the TV, and expanded itsproduct line into Home Entertain-ment by producing TV cabinets for General Electric®.

In the 1970’s, Lane bought a small reclining chair company in Tupelo, Mississippi, named Action Industries.

Lane Furniture is a member of the American Furniture Manufacturers Association (AFMA) and is a leader in setting industry standards and voluntary guidelines. Fabric content information and appropriate cleaning instructions are located on the hang tag of each piece of Lane Furniture. The recommended cleaning care is chosen based on careful testing by fabric suppliers. Lane recommends professional cleaning when overall cleaning is necessary.

NOTICECare should be exercised near open flame or with burning cigarettes. The upholstered Furniture Action Council (uFAC) is an association of furniture manufacturers, retailers and suppliers organized for the purpose of conducting research into more cigarette resistant upholstering methods and implementing them throughout the industry.
