Remember that feeling you had when you started snowboarding? You embraced

this sport with such open arms that you just had to open your own store; had to be part of

what molded this industry. This was an opportunity that was about freedom of choice and

a path less traveled.

You picked that untracked line over there or you went as fast as you could down

this groomed run. It has all been about choice! That is what drew us all to snowboarding.

And that is exactly the foundation on which we’ve built Signal.

We chose our own line, our path and our own cause. No secret code words.

No hidden agenda. Just a brand, a factory and a way of life that we believe is fulfilling.

At Signal, we hope to be able to reignite or sustain that enthusiasm and optimism through

our passion for manufacturing and life.

EffectiveEdge:Thisistheedgeofyourboardthatyourideon.Whenyourboardisflatonthegroundandthentippedtotheside,thepointsthattouchthegroundarethebeginningandendoftheeffectiveedge.Thisnumberismoreimportanttoknowthanyouroveralllengthbecauseeventhoughtherearemany155boards,notallsharethesameeffectiveedge.

Sidecut:Thisiswhatmakesyourturn.Howsharpyouturnwillbedeterminedbyhowdeepthesidecutis.Thesmallertheradius,thesharperyourboardwillturn.Alargerradiuswillallowyourboardtoridefaster.Someboardshavemorethanonesidecut.Whenaboardhasmorethanonesidecut,theturningisinitiatedbythefirstsidecutandfollowedthroughbythelatter.

Camber:Thismeasurementistakenwhenyourboardisonaflatsurface.Thespacebetweenthesurfaceandthemidpointofthebowofyourboardisthecamber.Thetallerthecamber,theharderitpressesonyoursidecut.Thecamberalsoassistsyouinspringingoffofoneedgeandmovingtotheother.Yourboard’scambershouldbeproportionatetoitssidecutandyourweight.

SublimationandSilkscreening:Thesearetypesofprintingprocesses.Eventhesecanaffecttheflexofyourboardandhowitrides.Sublimatedmaterialsarestifferduetotheprocessusedinitsconstruction.Withthisprocessinksarecookedrightintothematerial.Silkscreenedtopsheetsaremoreflexiblebecausethematerialislessdense.Withthisprocessinksareappliedinverythinlayerstothebacksideorthefrontsideofthematerial.
