Withstand RatingsNote: The maximum withstand rating is limited by the value set forth in this table or the short circuit rating of the upstream fuse or circuit breaker,whichever is less. The upstream protective device must have instantaneous trip function or element, and its rated amperage may not exceed the ratedcurrent of the switch.
Internal Accessory FunctionsUL Listed for Field Installation
Auxiliary SwitchThe auxiliary switch signals primary contact position (open or closed) to other accessories for remote indication and control applications.Switch operation is independent of the method used to open or close the breaker. Auxiliary switches do not distinguish between a trip oropen condition. Record Plus normally open switches are “early make/late break” type auxiliary switches and are normally open when thebreaker is open and normally closed when the breaker is closed.
Bell Alarm MechanismThe bell alarm mechanism (BAM) is used to signal breaker trip status to other accessories for remote indication and interlocking function.The switch operates when the breaker is tripped as a result of its protective functions, or as the result of the operation of a shunt trip orundervoltage release. The switch is not actuated as a result of normal breaker “on-off” operation.
Shunt TripThe shunt trip is used to trip (open) the circuit breaker by remote control. Record Plus shunt trips are UL listed for field installation,meeting UL requirements for operation at 55% of rated ac voltage (120 Vac shunt trip only) and 75% of rated dc voltage for use onground fault systems. Record Plus shunt trips are common to all circuit breakers and molded cases switches in the product family.These devices offer a unique combination of low power consumption and a “kiss-free” lock-out operation. When the breaker is in the“ON” position and the shunt trip is activated, the breaker will trip and its contacts will open. The device can be constantly activated atits normal voltage, allowing it to be used as a lock-out coil.
Undervoltage ReleaseThe undervoltage release trips the circuit breaker when the control voltage drops to less than 35% to 70% of rating. Optional time delay units from 100 to 250 milliseconds allow the user to minimize nuisance tripping. The time delay may be switched off to provide an instantaneous undervoltage trip. In the event an attempt is made to reclose the circuit breaker while the undervoltage condition ispresent, the undervoltage release devices will prevent the breaker contact closure. In other words, Record Plus undervoltage releasesare a “kiss-free” design.
