SECCION III

ALUMINUM CONDUCTORS STEELREINFORCED (ACSR)This bare concentric-lay-stranded conductor is made from roundaluminum 1350-H19 (extra hard) wires and round zinc-coated oraluminum-coated steel core wire(s) to be used as overheadelectrical conductors.Depending on the dimensions of the conductor, the steel core canbe made of one or more wires. Thanks to the great number of combinations that can be madebetween the wires of aluminum and the wires of steel, theproportions can vary among them to obtain the best relationbetween the mechanical resistance and the current-carryingcapacity for each type of application. For a better protection in an atmosphere of extreme corrosion,CONAL division recommends to use Class B or C galvanizedsteel core (zinc-coated). It produces a small reduction on the totalmechanical resistance when using these types of galvanization.CONAL division can produce special orders if desired. Its not practical to show all the types of combinations anddimensions of the cables. The following tables presents thedimensions and stranding most used.

ALUMINUM CONDUCTORS,ALUMINUM-CLAD STEEL REINFORCED,BARE (ACSR/AW)Used as bare overhead transmission cable and as primaryand secondary distribution cable. ACSR/AW offers the samestrength characteristics as ACSR, along with slightly greaterampacity and resistance to corrosion due to the aluminumcladding of the steel core wires. It provides greater protectionwhere corrosive condition are severe.

ACSR/TWACSR/TW is an outgrowth of the technology developed in themanufacture of self-damping conductor, ACSR/SD. The conductorprovides the same conductor are with a reduced diameter, compared with more traditional "round strand" ACSR designs. The smaller diameter, depending on and wind loading, mayreduce cost; ligther or fewer structures are needed for installation.

ALUMINUM CONDUCTORALLOY REINFORCED(ACAR)This bare concentric-lay-stranded conductor is made from roundaluminum 1350-H19 (extra hard) wires and round aluminum-alloy 6201-T81 core wires for use as overhead electricalconductors. It presents a higher mechanical resistance. The following tables show different combinations of strandingregarding this type of conductor (ACAR).
Cables homogéneos con accesorios sencillos.I. No presentan problemas electromagnéticos.J.
