BUILDER CHASSIS KITSThe Builder Chassis Kits are designed for the experienced rodder with considerable chassis knowledge and fabricating skills. ‘23 “T” Chassis with Independent Front SuspensionMain Street Rod Company’s ‘23 “T” Chassis utilizes a modern independent front suspension designed for great handling and a smooth ride. Our 23 “T” Chassis is available in either a Standard or Lo-rider model. Both feature a SuperRide independent front suspension with tubular upper and lower “A” arms. The SuperRide IFS was designed in conjunction with Heidt’s Hot Rod Shop, Inc. specifically for Main Street Rod Company’s 23 “T” Chassis.
Main Street Rod Company’s 23 “T” frame is Heavy Duty. No lightweight steel tub-ing used here. Our 23 “T” frames are constructed of 2” X 3” .188 wall tubing for additional strength. The use of a thicker wall tubing also allows you to drill and tap the frame walls for mounting brackets and accessories. Our chassis are designed for our enlarged ‘23 T-tub bodies, which are four inches longer and two inches wider than the original “T” Bucket.
The Standard model has a 6” kick-up in the rear and is designed for use with stock Mustang II front spindles and a traditional radius rod rear suspension. The wheel-base for this model is 103 inches. A 20” pickup bed is recommended with our body on this frame.
The Lo-rider frame has a longer lower look achieved with an 8” kick-up in the rear and 2” dropped spindles in the front. A triangulated rear suspension and a 30” pick-up bed are recommended for this chassis. The use of a triangulated rear on the Lo-rider allows the frame to sit three inches lower than the Standard and eliminates body contact with the radius rods. The wheelbase on this model is 110 inches.

Some cars have a frame which do not allow for a simple Mustang II installation, yet are too narrow for a GM sub-frame. Fat Man builds front clips that provide a 2” to 4” drop, and include pre-made mounts for bumpers and sheetmetal. Sheetmetal mounts with very minor or no trimming required. NO WELDING! Now install a Heidt’s Mustang II™ or SUPERIDE II IFS Kit in your Nova with no welding. Even the motor mounts are already welded in place. Simply unbolt your complete front clip and bolt in the Heidt’s complete suspension sub-frame. Install the firewall supports, bolt on the suspension components and you are all set. The stock radiator mount even bolts right up. Since this is a no weld installation, we require you to use our Full Lower A-Arms, on the Mustang II kits, as we welded the sleeves in place for you. All the other factory Mustang II components can be used with this kit. Sub-frame kits include many standard features such as tubular control arms, 11” disc brakes, manual rack & pinion steering, motor mount stands welded in place and firewall tubes with shims. NOTE: Heidt’s offers a long list of options available for both IFS packages. Including 13” Brakes, narrowed A-arms, dropped spindles, and power steering. This front subframe is a bolt-in replacement for the original stock subframe. It improves the handling and ride quality with a unique suspension geomentry. It is the ONLY subframe in the aftermarket industry with hydroformed frame rails. Hydroforming preserves the steel’s strength and stiffness. Tube AxlesA four inch drop that are machined to accept the early Ford spindle which come in two standard width, 46 1/2 inches and 49 inches from kingpin to kingpin. The GM Coil-Over Conversion Series is available for a wide array of GM cars from 1955 - 1993. Designed as a bolt-in conversion the spring utilizes the stock upper spring bucket with a coil-over perch at the bottom to allow ride height adjustment. They are sold in a complete pair including mounting brackets and springs. The MC Series are available for the rear.
