STEPHEN K. NEWCOMER (1939 - 2006)

Steve Newcomer began his career in the casket industry with Missouri Casket Company at the age of 14, as the fourth generation to participate in the family business. During his career, he success-fully held positions with companies including Amedco, Service Corporation International, the York Group and Artco Casket Company. He was actively involved in CFSA beginning in the early 1980’s and until he passed away in 2006. Steve served as President of the Board of Directors in 1993-94, and is remembered for his passion and relentless dedication to the industry. A longtime Chair of the Golf Committee, Steve is honored by CFSA every year through the annual Stephen K. New-comer Memorial Golf Tournament.

TOURS & ACTIVITIES: FRIDAY, MARCH 5 - OPTION I

Stephen K. Newcomer Memorial Golf Tournament Departure: 12:00 p.m. (lunch available at the clubhouse) Join us for the 7th Annual Stephen K. Newcomer Memorial Golf Tournament! The challenge of the golf courses at the Belleair Country Club (www.belleaircc.com) is only paralleled by its beauty. Designed by Donald Ross, one of America’s most fa-mous golf course architects, the greens and fairways reflect essentially the same spirit and original features as Ross designed them in the early 1900’s. Beautifully main-tained and extraordinarily scenic, the course will challenge and inspire golfers of all levels. Golfers will have the opportunity to eat lunch at the clubhouse or practice at the driving range before teeing off at 1:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place teams, the team with the latest-surviving Pink Lady ball, as well as to the “Longest Drive” and “Closest to the Pin” winners. Price: $150 per person (includes cart), $60 per person club rental

FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER-ON-YOUR-OWN

On a visit to the Gulf coast, cuisine is as essential to the experience as a day on the beach! The Clearwater area is best know for its seafood, but you can find something for every taste within a few miles of the resort. Continuing a Winter Seminar tradition, attendees will have the opportunity to dine at a local restaurant of their choice on Friday night. Enjoy Clearwater's only AAA Four-Diamond restaurant, Caretta On The Gulf, located right in the Sandpearl, or pick up a list of local restaurants at the CFSA registration desk. For a preview of recommended restaurants nearby, go to www.visitstpeteclearwater.com.

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS: SATURDAY, MARCH 7 Major League Baseball “Grapefruit League” Spring Training Baseball Game in Clearwater: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Toronto Blue Jays Departure: 11:30 p.m. (lunch available at the ballpark) The five-time consecutive National League East division title winners, Phila-delphia Phillies, have been coming to Clearwater each spring since 1948. After setting a franchise record with 102 regular-season victories in 2011, the team also had the best record in baseball for the second year in a row. They now train at one of the newest venues in the Florida Grapefruit League, Bright House Field. The ballpark offers some of the best sight lines of any Spring Training ballpark and all of the blue-colored seats are angled toward the infield; in fact, the ballpark feels a lot smaller than its 8,500 capacity. A 50-feet-wide by 10-feet tall 'Tiki Pavilion' just beyond the left field fence will al-low fans the option of sitting on a barstool to watch the ballgame and choos-ing from a wealth of drinks. A kids play area, located down the left field line, will keep the little ones busy and also includes a kid-sized menu. All attendees will be seated behind home plate and will receive a $10 voucher to be used toward food or beverage at Bright House Field. Food is moderately priced and there are a wide variety of food options, including Delco’s Cheesesteaks, Lee Roy Selmon’s Barbecue, Boar’s Head Cuban Sandwich, as well as standard ballpark favorites including hot dogs, brats, and pretzels. We strongly recommend that you order tickets to this event with your CFSA Winter Seminar registration form prior to Friday, February 6, 2015. Tickets not ordered prior to this date may not be seated with the group. Price: $65 per person

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS: FRIDAY, MARCH 5 - OPTION II Clearwater Marine Aquarium “Behind-the-Scenes” Tour Departure: 12:30 p.m. (lunch on your own)

Go behind the scenes at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a unique non-profit hospital dedicated to rescue, rehab and release of marine animals. Numerous forms of marine life are permanent residents at the aquarium, all of which have serious injuries that prevent their return to the wild. The aquarium's best-known permanent resident is Winter, a bottlenose dol-phin who was rescued in December 2005 after having her tail caught in a crab trap. Her injuries caused the loss of her tail, and the aquarium fitted her with a prosthetic tail which brought worldwide attention to the facility. Winter later starred in the 2011 film, Dolphin Tale, and its 2014 sequel, Dolphin Tale 2, shot partially on location at the aquarium. Other animals permanently housed at the facility include sharks, sea turtles,

American river otters, pelicans, and sting rays. This tour will take you through the aquarium’s open-air critical care facility, an area closed to the general public. Note: This tour is limited to 20 participants. Price: $70 per person

“DO-IT-YOURSELF” ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES Voted “Best Beach Town in Florida” by USA Today readers in 2013, Clearwater Beach offers fun for all ages, from kid-friendly water sports and cruises to beachside dining and dancing hot spots. Below are just a few of the local activities and attractions that you can take advantage of during your stay. For more information on these “do-it-yourself” optional activities, or to pre-arrange tours, contact the Sandpearl Resort Concierge at 727.674.4185 or [email protected].

Sunsets at Pier 60 Daily Festival. Located right on Clearwater Beach and less than 1/4 mile from Sandpearl Resort, Pier 60 is a family-friendly destination known for its fishing, restaurants and shopping as well as "Sunsets at Pier 60", a daily celebration starting two hours before sun-set, featuring arts and crafts vendors, street musicians and entertainers. In addition to the Sun-set festivities, Pier 60 features a large children's playground, covered pavilions, snack shops, shopping, restaurants and bars, fishing rentals, boat tours, and a modern pier for fishing or just enjoying a stroll.

Caladesi Island State Park. With 3 miles of pristine beaches accessible only by boat, Ca-ladesi Island is an unspoiled paradise, and a magical place for swimming, sun-bathing, fish-ing, hiking, snorkeling, or shelling! As one of the few completely natural islands along Flori-da´s Gulf Coast, Caladesi´s white sand beach was rated America’s Best Beach in 2008.

Dolphin Exploration Tour. This 2-hour tour will take you out on the beautiful emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico in search of the Sun Coast’s favorite, the bottlenose dolphin. In addition to offering guaranteed dolphin sightings, your Captain will highlight some of the fasci-nating facts about the natural wonders the Gulf Coast offers. There is something for everyone, from Tommy the Turtle Explorer Time for the kids to unlimited beer, wine, vodka punch, or soft drinks for the adults.

Captain Memo’s Original Pirate Cruise. Cruise away to the less traveled road of briny bucca-neers and seafaring seadogs. Set your course with the cool reggae island & steel band music playing throughout the rigging of the Pirates Ransom. Every passenger will enjoy their choice of free soft drinks, beer, wine, or champagne while aboard ship. Get lost in the pirate antics of treas-ure hunts, face painting, water gun games, stories and dancing for all.

Sunset Celebration Cruise. Sail the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico as you view a beauti-ful Florida sunset, and if you’re lucky you may witness the legendary “green flash.” Your Captain will point out interesting facts about the Gulf Coast as well as sights along the way. Guests are offered unlimited beer, wine, or vodka punch, with a special champagne toast at sunset.

And More! Other popular activities that you can enjoy right in the Clearwater Beach area include: jet ski rentals and tours, kayak and paddleboat tours, parasailing and “sky surfing,” or private yacht and fishing charters. You can even stay right within the grounds of the Sandpearl and enjoy Sunrise and Sunset Yoga or Beach Boot Camp fitness classes, Family S-mores Nights at the resort’s wood-burning fire pits on the beach, and poolside “Movies Under the Stars.” For more information about Clearwater Beach, go to www.visitstpeteclearwater.com.

TAMPA & ORLANDO Looking to make a side trip, or to “piggy-back” onto your Winter Seminar activities? Just 40 minutes from Clearwater Beach, Tampa offers a variety of family and cul-tural attractions, including Busch Gardens, the Florida Aquarium, Lowry Park Zoo, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Adventure Island water park. For more information, go to www.visittampabay.com. Less than two hours from Clearwater Beach, Orlando is home to the famous Dis-ney theme parks, as well as Florida’s newest theme park, Legoland, and two Universal Studios parks (home of the brand new “Wizarding World of Harry Pot-ter” exhibits). Not into theme parks? Consider a visit to the town of Winter Park, known for its shops, restaurants, and museums, or take in a performance of La Nouba Cirque du Soleil at the Walt Disney World Resort. For more information, go to www.visitorlando.com.
