Locally established in 1989, Power Digital
Printing Co Ltd (Power Digital ) has provided
offset printing services for decades. Targeting
the local market, its core services include
desktop publishing, output centre and digital
printing. Nowadays, it adopts up-to-date
technologies and modern management
methods to deliver high quality printed
matters including catalogues, pamphlets,
posters and paper packing for products.
Digital printing has outgrown traditional
offset printing for many reasons. In the case
of offset printing, the techniques have
become obsolete because the lack of young
successors inherit the skills. Owing to the use
of different technologies, the production
lead time, labour hours, and cost of offset
printing are significantly higher than digital
printing.
By acquiring a well-established local printing
company, Power Digital determined to
transform its business from offset printing
to digital printing. The decision was made as
the local printing house wanted to expand
and diversify its services and provide more
options to its clients. To stay competitive in
this fast-paced industry, it is necessary for
Power Digital to respond quickly to meet
client’s increasing expectation. For example,
the production of a digital colour proof
takes only one day but a traditional colour
proof from offset printing may take up to
four days.
“We have to self-change to embrace the
digital printing era.” Ms Long said.
“Fuji Xerox’s Iridesse™ Production Press allows pre-production sample to be ready
within a day, as compared to traditional offset printing which usually takes three to
four days. Acceptance rate of samples by our clients also increases significantly.”

Two sets of Fuji Xerox’s Iridesse™ Production
Press have been installed in Power Digital’s
office. Iridesse™ is a perfect replacement for
offset printing. Not just does it broaden the
client base for Power Digital, but also helps
the company to diversity its service portfolios
such as annual reports, certificates, supplementary
exercises for tutorial centres and property
sale brochures.
Increased in efficiency is the biggest advantage
for digital printing. Before, it was not easy for
companies to produce the printed products or
matters within a short timeframe. Thanks to
Iridesse™ Production Press, a sample could be
produced within a few hours. Additional
printing functions in Iridesse™ also save the
company’s hassle to outsource other printing
procedures, enabling the one-stop production
of a perfectly printed sample for clients’
evaluation.
“This greatly increases customers’ trust in our
services and expedite the whole process,”
Ms Cherry Chow, General Manager (Digital
division) said. “Before, we even had to charge
customers an additional cost for colour
proofs. Now we can do it free of charge to
increase our competitiveness.”
Ms Chowadded that Iridesse™ could produce
complicated samples such as boxes and
decoration items efficiently that clients could
have time to improve on the design, identify
the inadequacies and make the adjustments
swiftly.
Printing automation also reduces labour time
and costs and minimise errors. As publication
can be printed without manual operation and
monitoring by the workers, it frees up their
time for more meaningful tasks and gives
them peace of mind. Offset printing often
requires lots of manual work to adjust
printing colours, while digital printing
automates colour adjustment and page
alignment, eliminating the routine work which
in turn helps attract more talent to this field.
“We choose Fuji Xerox’s products for its
excellent technical support, ample choices
and stable performance. It is also the only
printer brand that provides gold and silver
toner options.” Ms Long said.
As a long-term business partner, Ms Long said
Fuji Xerox (Hong Kong) has done an excellent
job in helping promote Power Digital’s
services through videos, open day, referral of
new businesses and even invitation to speak
and exchange ideas at Fuji Xerox (Hong
Kong)’s overseas forums.
