In support of their effort to be an environmentally responsible corporate citizen, UDF partnered with LSI Industries and chose LSI’s LED canopy system to retrofit existing locations as well as for new construction. UDF selected a combination of Ambient and Focus fixtures to design a lighting system that best fit each site’s requirements. All fixtures utilize white solid- state light sources which provide superior lighting quality while using dramatically less energy than traditional metal halide canopy fixtures. Further, the mercury-free light source and sustainable materials of construction and packaging will significantly reduce the energy consumption, toxic waste and carbon footprint of the UDF sites. A. Bradford Lindner, President of United Dairy Farmers, stated: “We calculate that by converting to LSI’s Crossover system, we will save an average of 82% or $4,660 a year in energy consumption and our ROI will be just over 2-1/3 years. We have also upgraded smaller existing canopies with the Crossover and will save about 85% or $2,672 per year. This will be a ROI of about 3 years. Equally, if not more important the sites lit with the new Crossover canopy lighting look great! The white light makes our facility look bright, inviting and safe which is very important to our customers and employees.”
