The Bus

Kaohsiung City Bus started in the period of Japanese rule. In 1937, a Japanese, Yigitoglu Juro, set up ‘Gong Ron automatic car Ltd.’ by himself. This is the predecessor of Kaohsiung City Bus. In 1989, Kaohsiung Public Transportation Management Office donated some buses, fire trucks, and other transportations, total 200 even more to the sister city of Kaohsiung, Cebu City, Philippine. They were old, but they still can use. In 2004, Kaohsiung Public Transportation Management Office renamed to ‘Kaohsiung City Bus Service Administration’. The bus follow the time. In September, ‘Taiwan Money’ electronic ticket worked official, ‘i Pass’ also worked in the end of the same year. Now, to reduce the cost, and increased the elasticity, the administration let the bus run by the local pepole.

E-DA BUS E-DA Bus set up in 2010. It is also a subsidiaries of the ‘E United Group’. E-DA World official opened in 2010. Although Yida 2nd Rd. (Renyi Rd.) and County Road 186 were the main connects there, but it was still inconvenient to the people that didn’t have their own cars. In 2005, the founder of the E United Group, I-shou Lin, announced to set up E-DA Bus. Now, there are 6 lines of E-DA Bus. All of them begin at the E-DA World, and the running areas are all around Kaohsiung main cities.

The railway started in the period of Ching rule, and it arrived the peak at the period of Japanese rule. The railway was important, especially at the west region. Ming-chuan Liu, set the first railway for the guests and the cargo. In the period of Japanese rule, there were three period in this time. In the period of the ROC, the government set up the Taiwan Railway Administration to manage the railways.Now, there are many lines that leads to different places, thanks for the convenience that the railway brings to us.

TAIWAN HIGH SPEED RAIL

THERE IS ONLY ONE HIGH SPEED RAIL SYSTEM IN TAIWAN. IT IS TAIWAN HIGH SPEED RAIL. IT IS FASTER THAN THE COMMON RAIL. TAIWAN HIGH SPEED RAIL ACROSS THE WEST OF TAIWAN. AFTER IT WORKED IN 2007, IT BECAME ONE OF THE IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATIONS IN THE WEST OF TAIWAN. IT IS ALSO AN PROGRESS SIGN OF THE RAIL INDUSTRY . IN 2010, TAIWAN HIGH SPEED RAIL PASSENGER CAPACITY BROKE THOUGH 1 HUNDRED MILLION. IN 2012, TAIWAN HIGH SPEED RAIL PASSENGER CAPACITY WAS OVER 2 HUNDRED MILLION.

The MRT

Kaohsiung MRT (abbreviation : KMRT ) is the second MRT in Taiwan. Kaohsiung’s urban district is the center, and also offer their service to the suburban district. This system began on March 9th in 2008. Now, there are two lines : the Red Line and the Orange Line. Most of the KMRT’s line are underground. One of the Red Line, from Ciaotou Station to World Games Station is overhead, and from Daliao Station to Gangshan South Station which is one of the Orange Line is a ground station.

The Bike The Kaohsiung City Government encourage people to ride the bikes for the environmental , this also improve the air pollution in Kaohsiung. In 98 , the government set up the c-bike. It is the first bike which type is ‘City Network’. Now , there are at least 7000 bikes can offer to people , and over 137 site that people can rent from.

Kaohsiung Harbor

Kaohsiung Harbor is one of the four main harbors in Taiwan. It is also the most important harbor of the ocean shipping, and the import and export for the cargo in Taiwan. Kaohsiung Harbor has been trading with the UK, France because of the treaty of Tianjin. In the dynasty of Qing, it was the harbor after the Anping Harbor. 1895, China ceded Taiwan to Japan, this period was the top of Kaohsiung Harbor. The ships that import and export from Kaohsiung Harbor the most was in 2004. Now, the cargo throughput accounts half of the all cargo in Taiwan. The tourist import and export is the third of Taiwan.

Airport

Kaohsiung International Airport is a medium sized airport for civil aviation at Xiaogang in Kaohsiung. It is the main international airport in South Taiwan. The predecessor of Kaohsiung International Airport is Kaohsiung Flying Site in Japanese colonial period. Originally, it was the headquarters for the Kaohsiung force of the navies and the airmen. Now, there are many flights that fly straightly to Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia stop at Kaohsiung International Airport. It is also the secondary base of China Airline and Eva Airline.
