We hope everyone has had a super smooth start to school!! The 2012 Carnival Committee is in full swing planning a great night of fun for your entire family. Everyone has been so excited and enthusiastic about this Year’s Carnival and we appreciate your huge support. As many of you know, there is more to Carnival than fun games, cotton candy and cakewalks. Carnival is Parent’s Guild’s largest fundraiser that directly benefits each child at St. James. Proceeds raised by carnival support some fantastic projects such as the Literacy Library, classroom equipment, our fantastic clay art projects and new technology for all our students to use. Proceeds also go towards hosting various events throughout the school year, including Grandparents Day, Open House, Teacher Appreciation Week, AR Store, and many more. None of this can happen without the participation and support of our families! So join us this year and help keep St. James Rockin’ and Rollin’!! Ready to experience a Blast from the Past!! Here’s the Buzz on what’s planned for the week of Carnival – Make sure to mark your calendars!!

Monday Diner Day: Enjoy a 50’s inspired lunch with a soda and learn some cool jump rope tricks!

Tuesday Field Day for Grades 1-5: We have special plans for a fun filled day. Volunteer now to help us and watch the fun…

Wednesday Pre-K & Kindergarten Field Day: Fun activities tailored to our Pre-K & Kindergarten friends!

Ice Cream Shoppe: I scream, You scream, We all scream for Ice Cream!!!

Thursday Skate Day! Bring your skates to school and enjoy a favorite past time of the decade.

Friday - Early Dismissal at 11:40! Nifty Fifties Day: Dress up in all your carnival threads and gear!

Cake Decorating Contest: The best cakes win special prizes! All cakes will be used for our cakewalk Carnival night!

We’ll end our day with a Sock Hop – showing off our new 1950’s dance moves learned from Ms. Foster.

and last, but not least……

Fun Pass - Pay one price and play all night with a Fun Pass. This pass will allow limitless fun and prizes for carnival games available!

Tickets - Required for all refreshments and the ever-so-popular cakewalk and amusements!

T-Shirts - Get your 2012 Carnival t-shirts!! Students can wear these everyday the week of Carnival with uniform bottoms!

Threads - Grab your poodle skirts and your white t-shirts! Students are allowed to dress in clothes reminiscent of the 1950’s. We now offer the must haves for a “greaser”!

AND More - Jump ropes! Jacks! And Wooly Willy! We have fun nostalgic goodies to set the scene! From toys to must-have accessories, you’ll find something you have to have!

Be a Corporate Sponsor: Your generous donation to this year’s

Carnival will ensure a smashing Top Hit! Get your name on the t-shirt and in all Carnival newsletters, while your dollars fund numerous programs and endeavors for St. James.

Sponsor a Booth: Your name will be displayed in front of your booth

and listed in the newsletters while you help reduce costs for Carnival. Power Pool: We need your help the night of Carnival. Sign up for a

one-hour shift with Joey at [email protected] or on the Power Pool Board located in the Foyer at school.

Volunteer for Field Day: Help make Carnival 2012 Field Day a day to

remember. Your help will assure a fun-filled day! Look for more information to be sent home.

Get St. James Merchandise: Show your school spirit with fun and

useful merchandise such as the MUST HAVE Carnival T-shirt, threads, and the all-important Fun Pass!

Sell! Sell! Sell!: Carnival is not complete without our Raffle. Our raffle

committee is busy planning for a great prize. Information will be spinning your way soon!

Mini Auction: During Carnival night you will have an opportunity to

bid on items such as “People for the Day”, class projects, and St James walkway street signs named after you.

Have Fun: Not only is Carnival a vital fundraiser for the school, it is a 41

year tradition allowing the entire St. James community to come together and create wonderful memories for our children!
