Emmanuel, a name that means “God with us,” is most often used during Advent. God is with us all year in the Holy Spirit but particularly in the event of the birth of Jesus, God chose to be with us in our humanity. This means that God is with us in our joys and relationships as well as in our moments of failure and distress. We ask God to continue to bring us comfort and joy as Christmas approaches. How are you preparing yourself for the coming of Jesus into your own heart and life? Photo is of the Nativity Cabinet circa 1930’s by E.
