Course Title: Car lson Civil for Contractors

Courseware Description: This fundamental course is designed to introduce the student to Carlson Software and some of the basic tools it provides to assist the con-struction professional in the completion of projects. Students will be completing hands on exercises during the course and receive certifi-cates of completion at the end of the course.

Course Duration: 1 Days 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Lunch from 12:00 pm -1:00 pm

Objectives: The primary objective of this courseware is to familiarize students with the concepts and application of the essential functions of Carlson Standard menus and to use the Civil module for performing construction functions. After completing this course, students will be able to:

• Manage Files and Settings

• Utilize Carlson Edit, View and Draw functions

• Import Coordinate Data

• Draw points

• Manipulate Points

• Annotate boundaries, centerlines and areas.

• Create Surface models and Contours

• Develop Centerlines

• Construct existing and proposed Profiles

• Design Basic Roadway Templates

• Process Roadway Designs use “Process Road” and “RoadNet”

• Calculate roadway volumes

• Prepare Cross-Section Sheets

• Calculate earthwork volumes

• Create pads and bench ponds

• Apply sub-grades to site construction

• Topsoil removal and Replacement to site construction

• Export Surface files for Machine Control

• Export points and line work for Machine Control.

Who Should Attend: CAD operators, Data prep professionals, and construction managers will all benefit from the courseware presented.

Prerequisites: It is recommended that students have a working knowledge of:

• Construction practices and basic Surveying and Engineering.

• A recent version of AutoCAD or IntelliCAD

• Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 and/or Windows 8

Course Title: SurvCE Collection and Stakeout

Students will be completing hands on exercises inside on computers and outside with equipment during the course and receive certificates of completion at the end of the course.

Objectives: The primary objective of this courseware is to familiarize students with the concepts and application of the essential functions of Carlson Standard menus and to use the Civil module for performing construction functions. After completing this course, students will be able to:

• Stake Offsets

• Stake Surfaces

• Create Surface models and Contours

• Construction practices and basic Surveying and Engineering.

• Operational knowledge of Survey hardware including Total Station and GPS

• Laptop, Data Collector, Total Station and GPS (optional)
