Sisters from the various congregations were special guests for the liturgy in the packed mausoleum chapel, which was followed by a procession and blessing ceremony. Two granite walls give the history of religious life in the Spokane region. Each congregation has a smaller granite commemorative stone that bears its logo and the names of sisters buried at Holy Cross Cemetery now and in the future.
Jim Falkner, executive director of Catholic cemeteries for the Spokane Diocese, called together a small committee of sisters represent-ing the Sisters of Providence, Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, and the former Spokane
Dominicans to work on the project. ●
