During the late 1600s and 1700s, various pirates and buccaneers frequented Andros Island. In 1713 the Bahamas were declared a Pirate's Republic. It is said that the Andros settlement of Small Hope Bay was named because Morgan claimed there would be "small hope" of anybody finding the treasure he had hidden there. Pirates raiding the Spanish treasure galleons out of Cuba maintained a settlement on South Andros. Morgan's Bluff Beach is set near Nicholl's Town on the northern tip of Andros. Adjacent to a harbor, it occupies a quiet stretch of white sand backed by Australian pines, which give the edge of the beach a bit of shade. Like many beaches in the Bahamas, it’s a beautiful natural site. SAILING DISTANCE TRIP SAILING DURATION 135 Nautical Miles 13.5 Hours
