The Centre was set up in 1994 by Winchester City Councillor

twenty six paid staff with help from volunteers and is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, some of whom are or were
carers. The Centre is one of 144 centres in the UK which were run
under the auspices of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, founded by Princess Anne in 1991 to provide representation and
support for unpaid carers. This trust has now merged with Crossroads Care and is now known as Carers Trust.
Dear all,
Carers week is fast approaching and this year it runs from 6th-10th
June 2016. The theme is Building Carer Friendly Communities.
Communities which support carers to look after their loved ones, while
recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own. Currently
1 in 8 of us are carers and the aim is to reach out to the
thousands of carers that are missing out on advice, information, support
and services as well as acknowledging all carers commitment. If you
know of a fellow carer please let them know that they can contact us or
bring them along to one of the many Carers Weeks events, details of
which are in this newsletter. I am delighted that this year we are
working in partnership with Bluebird Care to hold 4 events across
Hampshire. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
Best Wishes
